I need a bit of advice on the lesser of two evils. I have a quaker, and my friend as two tiels, two eclectus and a sun conure. Truman stays at her house when I'm out of town (he and the conure are groom buddies), and how she is going out of town and her brood (minus one of the eclectus, which is going with her) will be coming to my place.
Her birds are clipped and most stay on their cages, but the eclectus just loves to walk around on the floor or sit with her. I have three cats (although only two are ever out and about...the third is under the bed 23 1/2 hours a day. She's debating whether she should just board him so he won't be in danger from the cats, but the boarding place doesn't let the birds out of their cages at all so he would be miserable. We're thinking it would be best to bring him here and only let him out when I am in the area...I work at home, so that would be a fairly long time each day. He'd still have to be locked up more than he is used to, but it might not be as bad. He could be confined in an area where I could always see him when he is out...it's always possible a cat could somehow sneak in, but I think it might be an acceptable risk. Opinions please?
BTW, Truman is always out of his cage when we are home, but he doesn't leave the cage except in the very rare instance that he is startled.
