Oh my gosh, today T-Bird was on my shoulder, and I leaned my cheek to him and he actually PRESSED into my cheek and ear and pushed!! INstead of moving away!

I was able to gently move my head back and forth kind of like rubbing him and he pushed INTO me!

What is this?!
How do I encourage this?? PLEASE TELL ME<<<I want it to happen again!
Can I somehow get him to do this with my hand????
Thanks!

EWW I am SO excited!!

wub.gif I am so jealous. I would not do that right now with QQ if you paid me to. I want a cuddler too. I bet he will do it again. I would give him a treat every time he does it to reinfore the good behavior. wub.gif

My Buddy is a real cuddle bug. He doesn't like toys, not interested in learning many new things......all he says is "Thank You!" and he has to be in the mood for that. But as soon as I pick him up, He runs up to my shoulder and snuggles into my neck. He often rubs his head on my cheek, and I rub back and tell him what a very nice bird he is. If he is in the mood to be generous, he will give me a kiss on the cheek when I ask for it. If he is cuddling and I move my head away from him, he immediately moves over to get closer. For some reason he likes my left shoulder much better than my right. He is about 16 1/2 years old, and I am his third and last home. I was told to not expect much interaction from him.....but the first night I had him, he ran up to cuddle by my neck and took a 2 hour nap.

I find that my birds will do as much for praise as for treats....and then I don't have to carry around a pocket full of food. The only real 'treat' I give them are slivered almonds, but that is just a special 'I love you ' thing, not for doing anything in particular. Every one and their fids are different, but that is what works for me.

All of my birds are re-homed or rescues, and while they sometimes take a bit more work, it is SO worth it.

aww thats so cute
my Nessie loves cheek snuggles
I'm like snuggle baby
and when she does that on her own she is in the mood to be
baby bird so I hold her cupped lightly in my hands and she makes
her purring noise at me ^^ it just makes me melt when she's like that
she'll rub her beak against my cheek sometimes too but I don't know
if she just wants to clean it sometimes haha

xerxeys mama
it sounds like that he wants to be a cuddler. Xerxey does that to me all the time and stays onmy shoulder almost all day if he could. smile.gif

Awwww! wub.gif He's coming around, isn't he? Don't push him too fast, and let him set the pace, and he might be a regular snuggle bug before you know it. Clyde likes to sit on one hand (he likes my right hand) and I curl my left around him like a Cozy Corner and he leans and gets all comfy. You might try that and see what T-bird thinks of it. Clyde practically purrs when he's snuggled up like that.

QQ moves in closer too if I move my head away from him......let's just say he isn't doing it to cuddle though. And then he gives me a sharp bite on the neck. I swear he is a vampire.

He's not a vampire, he's a Quaker! laugh.gif Wait till he's all snuggled up making kissing noises and going "awww" and then ... CHOMP! Followed, of course, by an evil chuckle.
loriwoo
Wow I feel really lucky, he never bites, but I take no credit, I found him and am still discovering him. My biggest fear is that he is old or that he will die from lack of feathers!
I am also afraid to get another one, because I hear such bad things!

I so LOVE it when they do that. I started doing that with Verde. Walking up next to his cage saying "Cuddles" and leaning my cheek on his. And now he leans in or initiates it when I walk up to him! Aaahhh! Nothing better. I really have to laugh when he gives a kiss first with sound effects!!:P
