I couldnt resist a second (ok - and a third) peek at them. They are just too cute and I still think that one facing the camera has something... I'll be happy if my babies are even half as cute

Tricia, do you keep them separated all the time or just during feeding? Might I suggest that you allow them to be together as it will help them to maintain body heat better and they will learn from each other. We kept our babies together so they could snuggle up and be with each other and they seemed much more content.
When they get to the stage where they are picking at food they're more apt to try new things if they can see the other trying it. Kind of a Monkey see Monkey do type thing.
But they do look nice and healthy otherwise. GOOD JOB mom/granny!

Hi, Andie's Mom.
They are in seperate dishes because they are hobbled for the splay leg.
I thought that they would get their feet/claws caught in each others taping straps.
Am I wrong ????
I would luv to keep them together for warmth & company.
Thanx.

Bless their little Quaker hearts. Are you planning on keeping them both? I can't ever breed because I can never give them up. That is why I have 5 cockatiels as well as my QP!

Awwwww....what sweet little babies!!! This is so cool getting to watch them progress!!! I watched it several times, but still can't decide what color they are...green or blue or one of each? Also wondering how mom and pop qp are doing? Did they get too upset when you pulled the babies?

Tricia,
To be honest, I haven't had baby parrots with splayed legs but I honestly don't think it would be a problem, The likelihood of them getting tangled is pretty small, (in my opinion) You might contact NCVon with a PM and see how she handled it with Spirit and his sibling who was splayed. She had a circumstance very similar to yours only she fed spirit from day 1 I believe. What did your vet advise?

Thanx Connie.
The vet did advise to keep them confined and upright but i didnt ask if they should be seperate or together.
I will PM Von, I know she kept Squirt in a cup to keep his legs downward.
Slic102,
We have a blue and a green.
The one on the left is in the video is the blue, who is also the bigger by 10 gms.
It is a little hard to see with the brooder light on.
Mum & dad are fine, they are just as they were before babies, eating well, yelling at us if we go near the aviary.
Larry Bird's Mom,
We werent planning to keep any.
We wanted to have Donut as our "only child".
Jess (nessie's mum on the forum) was interested in a baby.
Wayne (hubby) is starting to decide that they will be tooooooooo hard to let go.
So I am not sure what will be happening to the 2nd baby.
Will keep you all posted.
Thanx for you awwwwwwwwwwwwww's & cutes !!!!

I don't think they qualify as GrandEggs anymore! Maybe grandchicks? I did love the term GrandEggs though you should copyright that!

I think it would be best to call and ask the vet. If they used thread or string to hobble them they could get tangled very easily, the thread or string could get wrapped around the others foot or toe and could be disasterous. If its with a bandaid or tape it wouldn't be as dangerouse to toes and feet. Spirit and Squirt were in the same brooder, but Squirt was kept in a cup propped up. They would talk to each other and chatter but weren't close enough to touch until I took the hobble off. The idea of the cup is to keep them immobilized and their legs straight down. If they are both in there and wiggling around it would be hard to keep them immobile and straight with both pushing against the confines. JMHO
