We had chicken and rice for supper, and Clyde likes rice very much. I put him on his cage so I could eat in peace, but that didn't last. He flew over and sat on my hand, so I put it down where he could eat from one side and I could eat from the other. Even that wasn't good enough, and he waded into my plate! And helped himself! This, of course, annoyed my poor basset no end, who was waiting patiently for a handout and had to watch Clyde not only GET a handout, but eat from my plate! (yes, George got some, too, but not by eating from my plate!) Honestly, the cheek of him.

Haha very funny story. I had a similar experience. I was eating a cold poptart in the morning before class and sitting on a chair watching TV with Phoenix on my shoulder. I broke off a tiny corner of the crust and gave it to him to occupy him for a bit. Suddenly I look down and there is Phoenix, halfway down my shirt, stretched out stealing a bite of it without me knowing!

Ever since then, he shows interest in anything he sees me eat.

Little boogers they are.

I always have to share whatever I'm eating, but usually he's polite enough to wait for me to GIVE it to him and not just walk into my plate! laugh.gif Though he does the stretch and snatch, too, if it's something I'm holding like a sandwich. I bought him and Bonnie some Nutriberries today and when I offered him one he wouldn't take it until I pretended to try it, and THEN he took it away from me.

HAHA Phoenix does the exact same thing! The other day I tried to give him an almond, and he wanted nothing to do with it until I took a bite out of it first. Weird

We always share smile.gif The fids eat dinner wih us every evening lol The macaws on thier playstands in the kitchen and if Sebastions dish is empty he will begin to say "please, please" until I fill it back up, if his playstand is too close to the table bench he will get it himself tongue.gif Shelby is far to much of a lady and will just watch until we share (who can say no to those sweet faces???) Dodger climbs from table to the stair bannister..he will climb to the table grab a bite and take it back to the bannister to eat it...
Dinnertime in my house is quite an experience laugh.gif 3 kids, 3 birds and 2 dogs...each waiting for thier share. The fids favorite time of day is when I am making dinner..they really start chattering when they see what I am doing. The macaws have even learned who the pizza guy is LOL When he sees the pizza box Sebastion lets everyone know how excited he is with a loud "YAY!!!"

Last night Trudy shimmied down my shirt and helped herself to my salad. Makes me laugh how it doesn't even occur to them that they shouldn't help themsleves--they just assume it is their right.

Angie--I would LOVE to be a dinner guest at your house. I'd love to see all you birds joining in with the meal!

Illinois isn't that far Claudia consider this your invitation smile.gif

I sonetimes wonder about the old phrase 'eats like a bird' in my case..thats everything and alot of it tongue.gif Whoever coined that that phrase must not have had pet birds like mine
xerxeys mama
Thanks for sharing the story . that is so cute. I know that xerxey would do the same thing if i let him. smile.gif
Yogi's_mom
laugh.gif that is so cute!

Raven was joining me for oatmeal one morning, and I guess I wasn't sharing fast enough for his liking. The next thing I know he's STANDING in the middle of the bowl chowing down, and not letting me have anymore sad.gif

Not that I was going to dive in after he was standing in it anyways rofl

I'm sure it did wonders for the skin on his feet though.. oatmeal is great for dry skin no wink.gif

Our dog always looks disgusted when the fids are sharing our meal. Must tick her off big time, because she gets in trouble for begging laugh.gif

The fids don't drool though (thank goodness), so that's a plus in their favour lol

Sweetie's a snatcher, too. She'll climb down from my shoulder and try to run down my arm to the hand holding the fork, before it gets to my mouth. Then, she runs back up my arm,to my shoulder and reaches over, trying to snatch food from the fork as I put in my mouth...It's too funny
