wub.gif I just had to share a few pics of Pogo today...he's such a goober! He's more like a puppy than a bird!!! I have some great vids as well, but don't have time to upload them to utube right now...will post later tongue.gif

Pogo chillin in mom's lap...he knows no shame!! Right before I started snapping pics he had his lil head up his bum!!!

He's so adorable- I think a caique would be a blast to have around. They sound to me like a green-cheek conure on speed. Gccs have a tendency to do a lot of the dangling and rolling around and surfing and such, but not with as much zeal as a caiquie smile.gif I was at "my" bird shop the other day to get some fid food and I always stay for a while and visit every one of the residents. There was a caique who the owner was telling me was really shy and would usually hang out in the back of his cage when people are around. Boy he could see a SUCKER coming from a mile away! He latched onto the door of his cage and watched me and wooed me the whole time I was there. I would chat with him then go visit the others and he'd make a racket the whole time trying to get me to come back to him. He's definitely NOt coming home with me, but he was a lot of fun to visit smile.gif
I love seeing your pogo pics and hearing about him- what a character!

Yeah, Pogo has really stolen our hearts...but man, he does not want to be in his cage or anywhere we aren't for a single second! Right now his is back in his cage so Simon can be in the office with me and man is he mad!! I actually set out to get a green cheek before I got Pogo, but the only 2 at "my bird shop" (lol) did not like me one little bit. All they wanted to do was to bite the crap outa me. We fell in love with Pogo, but could not afford his price tag....then after 2 months of visiting him all the time, the owner pulled me aside and said she really wanted Pogo to be ours, so she gave him to me for half the price which was about the same as a GCC!!! Gotta love pet shop owners who actually care more about who buys their birds than making a buck!! biggrin.gif

I see you have two...do they share a cage? I have heard that they are one of the only bird breeds who can share a cage and still remain bonded to their humans. I hope to get another one eventually because Pogo would so dearly love a playmate, and we love caiques, but man, hefty price tag that we just cannot afford right now. Of course, if I could, I think I'd have lots and lots of birds cuz there are so many different kinds that I just love. I see you have an eclectus as well. That was the first bird that I fell madly in love with, but ended up choosing my qp because I didn't think it was best to get such a large breed of bird for my first. (but they are still on my list...lol)

No they are not caged together. But I too have heard that they can be caged together as well. Their cages do sit side by side though. And when they are out they play together. One is male and one is female. For this reason I dont want to be tempted for them to bond ,,lay eggs and have little mutts.LOL.

I meant to ask in my post if he is an attention hog-- my gcc definitely IS, big time- and he can't ever (well, rarely) just sit quietly with me. He's always into EVERYthing. I am SOOOOOOO glad the gcc and quaker are such good buddies cuz Squirt (gcc) would drive me insane if he insisted on being with me all the time. It's exhausting to try to keep up with him!
So.... since a caique is a fancy-looking gcc on crack then it's probably best that I just visit and not bring one home smile.gif
I'll just keep looking at Pogo's pics and videos for my caique fixes smile.gif

Oh yeah...he will not leave me and hubby alone for a second if he's out, and if he's not out, then he's complaining loudly about it!! Unfortunately, our qp wants nothing to do with him, and I was advised from the beginning not to allow them to play together due to the fact that a caique is so much rougher than a qp. Simon HATES him, and poor Pogo just wants to play with him so badly he can hardly stand it. The worst thing is that we cannot even have them both out together in the same room because even though Pogo is clipped, he can still glide far enough to get to Simon from almost anywhere. LOL..he really is like a bird on crack sometimes. Even my dogs are terrified of him, and he chases them all the time. They won't even come near me if he is in site because he will swoop right down on them and "ride" them until I remove him. One day he got on our female (they are pomeranians) and rode her all the way under the bed before I caught her. He was still happily sitting on her back under the bed! laugh.gif He'd just as soon be on the floor as anywhere, so we can't leave him unsupervised out of cage for a single minute.

I got an email about a local bird shop having a great sale today, and they had the cutest turquoise sided gcc I've ever seen, and omg did I want to go see him and put a deposit on him wub.gif , but after reading what you said about them being like a low key caique, I thought better of it because I'm just afraid that I couldn't give the 3 of them enough out of cage time if I had 2 like Pogo. Don't get me wrong, I love him to death and wouldn't trade him for anything, but if I got a 3rd bird and it couldn't play with either of the two I have now, I'd be in big trouble...LOL.

You're probably right to re-think it. Gcc's are itty-bitty birds compared to a quaker or a caique so it really would be tough to keep them all safe and entertained at the same time smile.gif

My BH caique and my GCC dont get along very good but My WB caique and GCC do pretty good. Course the BH is kinda like the obnoxious bully on the playground. When he starts your way then off ya run. Poor little guy just wants to throw ya to the ground and ruff ya up a little. Whats wrong with that?. laugh.gif
