There's snow on the ground, and it's been plain miserable. Ok ok, so it's not REALLY winter yet! But good enough for me! I want out of here!

Two weeks tommorrow, I leave for Costa Rica, to go on this tour. My actual tour date starts on December 4th, and as you can see, it's sold out! There is a forum there to meet your fellow travellers, but so far only a girlfriend/boyfriend in their 20s from Calgary have posted, so it'll be a surprise meeting I guess. Kind of reminds me of The Amazing Race! 15 strangers meet together for the adventure of a lifetime.

After flying to Vancouver the night before, I fly out on Dec 2nd morning from Vancouver-Houston-Costa Rica. I will get into CR past 10. Long day!

I've also posted a pic of map of itinerary, so you can see where I'm going to. I'm going through malaria country,so I start my anti-malarial tommorrow. I hope there's no side effects.

I'm trying to book a trip to Poas Volcano on first day after I arrive..my own trip...since this one is not included on GAP trip. You get to go into the crater of the volcano.

Yeh..but I will miss my birds....and wembley will be so pissed at me afterwards, but do you blame him? Don't worry, he'll be in loving care.

OMG you are so lucky I almost had the chance to go to Costa Rica because I went to the School of Environmental Studies and part of their program was to send us everwhere in the world (one trip per trimester and of course they were like $1000-4000. My parents didn't want to help me pay for it though so I could only afford to go to Alaska, and then I transferred schools before my trip so I didn't get to go anywhere LOL

Make sure you see some cool dart frogs! You might see some of these:

I had three of these as pets (Dendrobates Auratus Costa Rican green and black) You can probably handle these ones without anything bad happening to you, just don't put your fingers in your mouth until you've washed them good lol

You might see some dendrobates pumilio also you are so lucky!

Wow I am so excited for you. Ok don't forget to bring a camera. Tons of film if it is film type and get extra memory cards if it is not.

If your camera takes a memory card what type does it take? If I have one here I will send it out if you take pictures that make you think of me/the forum. (meaning not just me but the whole forum)

It takes compact flash. I have 3 gigs of memory. Oh, the parrots for sure will make me think of you! I'm sure I'll mention you guys SOMEWHERE in my travels!!

What is dendrobates pumilio Jessica/pickles?
(update) I googled it and it's a frog! Of course! Here's hoping I see one of those..there are so many neat creatures for me to see! 3 gigs, geesh that seems like nothing all of a sudden!!

lol I'm so jealous thats why I posted that I would love to see those frogs in the wild and they are everywhere and they are diurnal, so you can see them in the daytime. Take tons of pics we can't wait to see

don't play with dart frogs, check out the Bufo alvarius, AKA the Sonoran Desert Toad AKA the Colorado River Toad. Of course be careful becuase the glands do release a psychedellic chemical. So on play with this toad indoors! Just under two weeks, and I know you're itching to burn rubber, but stick in there Carolyn. It's gonna be a lot of hiking and some scooter riding! So I know You'll be in paradise. Enjoy!
