This is reference to the flag tree that I spoke of several weeks back....I stated that I would send each member that requested some seeds from my tree which I understand will produce a tree.....Also, I understood the tree will have its blue berries in the fall....Well to my disappointment my tree failed to have berries this past season....
Therefore, I got on the phone and talked with my cousin who gave me the tree three years ago and told her mine did not produce berries as I understood it would....And she wasn't quite sure about this, but she did say she thought it may have to be a little older or that it could be I may need a cross-polinating one....
The members that requested the seed (and I wrote each one down) are as follows:
Peppe----Julie's Jungle----jobo----Andie's Mom----Kate----Sandi----Mommy4syd----Andrea5699----Ringo's Mom
Lucyjujumon----Cheeky's Mom----and Cassie P.....
To those that see and read this, please acknowledge so that I'll know you did see it....Like I've always said, I try to follow through with things like this and didn't want anyone to be left in limbo....I'm so sorry about this, but we'll give it another try next year if any of you are still interested....thanks, hugs, Julie

yep, and I mentioned it back earlier if I can find my information on that, will let you know....
Yea, I found the information before my "edit" time expired...
It is called Clerodendrum trichotomum (Harlequin Glory Bower) from the family Verbenacheae and originated in China and Japan..and may I again say it has the most fragrant smell----.. now go and look it up on the internet....hehe...

Sometimes it takes a year or two for a tree or plant to mature enough to 'make babies' ... we'll just have to wait for another year ... no problem ... thanks for letting us know
(although to tell the truth, I had totally forgotten about it and would have wondered what the heck you were sending me now if I'd gotten a packet of seeds in the mail

)

I would love to have one too, but, I don't think it would survive Minnesota Winters. Even though I'm in southern mn, zone 4.
Can they grow indoors?

Thanks everyone---and I wouldn't have remembered it either had I not written it down in my notes....see----you need notes sometimes....

and Twiglet, no, it isn't an indoor tree---grows too big.....
Can someone find the previous thread for amoz (Chris) so he will know what we are talking about....Where were you then Chris??

I would try and look for it but I don't know how to find diddly squat on here....I am however, trying to learn a little more about how these buttons work.....

Cool I googled the plant and checked out photos of it. Now the tree's flowers/berries kinda remind me of the fuschia plant. the fuschia plant usually is sold in hanigng baskets and produces flowers with purple inner petals and pink outer petals. Check out this pic I found. The photos you uploaded are gone now, so I don't know exactly what the foliage is of your particular flag tree, but look at these beauties!

Again this isn't the same plant, but just a suggestion if you guys want to put something up to add color to your patio in the spring!

Chris--I've always thought the fuschia plant is one of the more gorgeous plants ever and in different colors..
I may still have pictures of the flag tree in my picture file, I'll look....
well, I've looked and looked and can't find the pictures...sorry
