i use a regular printed cotton on one side, and coordinating flannel or fleece on the inside ... though ive found several really cool flannel prints as well and i use it on the outside and the solid coordinating cotton on the inside.
it collects no poops, isnt as closed in so isnt as intimidating, i know my keets hated happy huts and my jazzie declared an all out war on it when i tried to put it in the cage haha so i had to come up with an alternative.
also the fabric can easily be removed and WASHED lol not like the happy huts
i buy a wooden dowel, use a hand saw to get the length of perch i want. then use eyelet screws into the ends to hold the fabric in place, it needs to screwed in as far as it can possible go, or the perch will spin
LMAO i learned that the hard way, i had jazzie get on the first one to test it and the perch was rolling like a log in water and she was running as hard as she could to stay on looking at me like 'mom what kind of evil contraption is this????'
i also hand beads from those eyelet screws to make it more fun.
the fuzzy stuff i actually got in the christmas isle at target haha and it works so perfectly : )
i just cut out a rectangle ... for cosmo its 14 inches long by 6 inches wide, for the keets its 10 inches long by 4 or 5 inches wide.
put the rights sides of the fabirc together, sew up the seams all but one inch on one side, use that to turn it right side out, hand sew that seam shut and then i install gromets into the sides for the screw to go through to the perch and a couple smaller grommets in the top for hanging
here are some pics to explain

that one is cotton on the outside and fleece on the inside, i cut an inch extra on the width for the fleece and rolled it back to create the border around the front
