Okay, I know it sounds weird, but my new little rescue with only his back two toenails has a really strange thing of licking me!!! I know it's crazy and my other two don't do it, but he is almost like a dog......licking my hand with his little tongue!! LOL......does anyone else's fid do this?? Here are a couple of pics of him to show proof.....that was difficult getting him NOT to attack the camera.....lol.....he's a jealous little thing!!!

Licking? That's pretty silly. How old is he/she? And yes he/she is very very adorable!

Ah Ha! My Seymour isn't the only one who licks!!!! I thought I had the only bird that licked! hahahahahaha! So wonderful to hear from someone else that has a fid with such a strange habit. I have never had a bird lick me until Seymour became a part of the family. People had asked me if I was sure he wasn't just preening, and I knew that wasn't what he was doing. He licks my face non-stop to the point that it really starts to get to me and I have to stop him and wipe my face off. laugh.gif Now if someone can just explain what it's all about!

Your new baby is absolutely adorable, stubs and all! Lack of toes justs adds to his cuteness!

LOL.....that's why I posted this.......I wanna know WHY he does it!!! It is hilarious, but kinda weird all at the same time. He licks non-stop!!! I don't know why he does it either and I thought I had the only bird that licked.....lol.....good to know I'm in great company!!! Woody is definately a mess for sure!!!!

<raising hand) Clyde does it, too. Usually he just preens himself and then me and then him and then me (he's very fair about taking turns, LOL) but some days he gets stuck on the licking thing and no toy or pumpkin seed or distraction will stay him from his appointed task. laugh.gif We had a night like that last night. Clearly, I've been neglecting my personal daintiness in his estimation and we had a major session last night. Nothing you can do but let him have at it.

And your stub-toed baby is about the cutest thing I've seen today! wub.gif

My Baby will do the same thing, but usually when she takes her bath. I put a dish of water down for her and I will wiggle my fingers in the water to get her attention - she comes right over and licks the water off my fingers. She also likes to hold one of my fingers while she splashes around in the water - she stands on one foot and holds my finger with her other! It is so cute.

Verde is a bit of a licker too.

is your new baby licking? or is he preening you like my bird does to my mom?

Puppy is a licking fiend - she'll do it to hubby, but does it much more to me. We think she may like the taste of the face powder I use, and since we don't want her to be an animal tester for cosmetics, I stop her immediately when I'm wearing makeup. She'll do it once or twice a week at least, and she really does get fixated once she starts (i.e., she'd go for 10-15 minutes if you let her, although we usually cut her off after a minute or two). What a strange and sweet little creature she can be . . .

I dont know how true this is but..............................................
I was told years ago dogs & cats lick people for the salt we sweat out.

Might be worth asking the vet about this one.

I think that is the cutest thing. I have never heard of a bird licking.
