Jack has been terrified of even a slight mist and would run away from a bath. 5 minutes ago i decided to try clicker to get him to take a bath. I filled up a little tub of water and as soon as he came close to it he ran away from it. So i held him and very slowly approached the tub of water with my hand and him on it by like 2 inches, clicked and rewarded. As soon as he heard the click he raised his head and u cud just tell he understood something. so right after that he took a couple steps towards the bath himself i clicked and rewarded and then he sat on the rim, i clicked and rewarded then touched water with his beak i clicked and rewarded and after that he didnt care about any clicks he just started splashin all over the place and went inside the bath lol. It was so cool i wanted to get him to take a bath so badly fist cuz its good for them second its just cool. Then he came out and like a busy little man quickle made his way towards him cage, got in himself and now hes sitting there preening... For those who ordered a clicker set cause of me, im sorry if it doesnt work for you, but with Jack its doing wonders

So much of it has to do with the patience of the teacher and cooperation of the student, I would imagine. You two sound like a great team!

I can't wait to get mine. It won't be here until next week. dry.gif Sure hope it works for Paco and Charlene!

I use clicker training but with out the clicker, I use my mouth to make the sound and use Good Boy for the sound. I started with the touch command teaching them to touch things I pointed to. Moved on to naming the object I wish them to touch and so on.

lol naah, im very short tempered actually. Patience is my enemy but Jack is quite cooperative, but sometimes starts to annoy me untill he gets it right. Of corse i never show my anger to him i keep it in me lol. With bath it was acutally very easy... 2 minutes and he was already plashin in the wter...

Wow, I've never heard of clicker training a bird before! That is awesome that it worked for you. With my luck though, my Grey would learn the noise and make it at inopportune moments laugh.gif
Lady Debra, congrats on your new baby! They definitely need some time to get used to a new place, maybe up to a week or more. Patience is a virtue!
