We had an uneventful trip back from Donella's with Jade this afternoon and now we're all safely home, with Jade in her cage munching on millet like there's no tomorrow. biggrin.gif Clyde was puzzled but has proceeded to ignore her and concentrate on me -- the poor dear had to spend all day in his cage until we got home -- and Bonnie is being her usual cheery little self. She doesn't know or care that she has a new sister as long as the millet supply doesn't dry up.

Jade made mincemeat out of the inside of the carrier but it kept her busy, and she didn't complain much at all coming home. When we got her cage put together and I poked the carrier in and opened it, she hopped right onto her triangular swing and is in the other room right now ringing her bell.

I forgot to grab her bowls so we improvised with some old sour cream containers and I'll make a trip to Petsmart tomorrow to get her some proper bowls. Thanks so much, Donella. You don't have to worry about her. She'll be well loved and spoiled rotten with us!

Here's the best picture I could get tonight, considering how dark our house is and not wanting to unduly upset Jade, though she's stuffing her face and seems pretty fine. She has the cutest way of bobbing her head, and she's discovered the Nutriberries I put in there for her. I thought a treat would make her feel more friendly toward us.

Congrats, Jade is adorable! I'm glad you made it home safe and sound! smile.gif

Congrats. Jade is so cute and looks content at your home smile.gif

Here's something we just discovered, too. Bill's been feeding her treats out of his hand through the bars, and each time he gives her one, she says "Thank you!" laugh.gif Clyde has a special whistle for thank you, but he doesn't say the words. Or maybe that whistle means, "Your offering pleases me, faithful servant" tongue.gif .

So glad you got Jade home safely - this story has a happy ending for all involved!

I found the bowls shortly after you left...we tried to catch you but was too late. Sorry they got set aside and missed when loading up Jades cage and supplies. You can pm me your address and I can mail them to you if you want.
Glad to hear Jade didn't chew her way out of the carrier on the way home!!I take it you were able to get her cage reassembled? It sure was a burger to tear down!!
Thank you and Bill(and Clyde and Bonnie!) for opening your heart and home to her. I know with patience and love Jade will be a wonderful loving friend for life.
Give her a beak rub for me...

Great news that Jade travelled safely.
She is a lucky girl to have a new brother and Sister.

Keep us updated.

I'll mail bowls tomorrow...I forgot to tell you Jade is a dunker...the talk of her bowls reminded me! She is quite comical how she bounces from bowl to bowl to dunk her pellets or whatever she's eating. Red and yellow pellets sure make pretty soup too! Green pellets were not worth dunking or eating tho! dry.gif

That should be interesting. laugh.gif Clyde poops in his dishes -- I think it's his way of complaining about the cuisine tongue.gif -- so everyone gets fresh food and water as needed and new paper every day. Jade's already made a mess of her paper, and she's only had it a couple of hours.

OOOooooooh Siobhan,

She's adorable wub.gif

She looks so happy and calm munching on her nutriberry smile.gif

So Clyde didn't even flock call to her, or the other way around??
Bonnie sounds too cute for words hehehhe. Just happily chattering in her own little happy place wub.gif

How exciting for you guys to have a new quaker in the house awwwwwww. I love it when one of the quakers gets rehomed with someone on here. It's like they are moving in with an aunt or uncle, and we can still keep up with how they are doing <happy sigh>.

How fun! A new baby in the house!

Donella, I don't think you have to worry about Jade... You did a good thing.

Sounds like a happy ending for sure smile.gif

Nope, Clyde hasn't done a flock call to her, though she did one to him -- I guess she was calling him -- when she first noticed him, while we were reassembling her cage. And yes, we got it together all right but it was a project. laugh.gif She's had a nap and is having another Nutriberry now. And she's had some pumpkin seeds. She took one out of my hand, too, and was very polite for a Quaker. That is, she didn't bite me. tongue.gif I'm not sure Clyde knows another Quaker when he sees one. BUT ... he's not mad at me, which was something I worried about a bit. I also thought he might be jealous of her marvy cage, which is a lot nicer than his, but he doesn't spend much time in his so maybe he doesn't care.

We're keeping her up way past her bedtime but we don't have a big enough house to stash her somewhere that she couldn't hear the TV and ambient noise, and the other birds go to bed around 10. When they go, we'll put her cover on, too.

I certainly will keep you informed of how she's doing. I adore her already and I hardly know her yet! wub.gif But I think I'm going to have to stomp my MBS into submission after this. We're pretty much out of room for cages now. biggrin.gif

Well this is a wonderful thread! I'm so happy for you Siobahn and family. Little Jade looks quite content!

YAY!! So glad that you made it home with Jade and that she is settling in nicely!! She's sure a pretty little girl!! I posted in another thread asking if you'd brought her home...guess I should read everything first huh? CONGRATS! I'm so jealous. Hubby makes it a point to tell me each and everyday...no more quakers for you!! Simon has been extra noisy and grumpy toward hubby since we relocated his cage due to the xmas tree going where he was. He's back to his usualy spot now that the tree is gone so hoping he will snap out of it!!

Glad that you got her home safely and she is settling in. Everything worked out great for all concerned it sounds like. Congrats.
