Hunnybird
Well after what turned into a really long day yesterday we finally made our way to get Louie. Let me start by telling all of you what a fantastic family he came from. Louie interacted with both Shelly and Ken phenomenally so I knew that I was getting a great bird. This was a very hard decision for them and I know, and respect, that. I have promised them that I will send them emails and pics of Louie so they will always know how he is doing.

Louie is a hoot. He loves to talk, mimic, laugh and cough (yes, cough!). He tried to bite me right off but I just told him "no" and he finally let go of my finger. Once he realized I was not going to flinch he climbed up on my hand and we were set from there.

Ken showed me how he plays with Louie and it was great to watch. I know that in time I will be able to get the same response from him.

I will say that Louie is actually settling in pretty good already. He is flighted (until I can get him clipped) so he had a nice flight around the place yesterday before I could get him settled into his cage. He talked and played nonstop until it was bedtime. When he got up this morning he was off and running again. He really is a fantastic bird. You can tell that a lot of time, attention and love went into him. He definitely is a lot louder than my two but that is okay with me. He is also eating very well already.

I will keep everyone updated as there is progress. For right now Louie is in a separate room and they all just get to talk back and forth. I am going to give it a few days before I let them see each other again. I don't want to push Louie too fast into his new home. I would much rather take my time and introduce them all slowly so they can become friends.

Thanks, again, to Shelly and Ken for blessing me with such a wonderful gift. wub.gif

Awww, it's always nice to hear when one of the "family" fids has been adopted by someone else on the board! wub.gif

Dana,
I'm overjoyed to hear that Louie's not missing us one dang bit.(lol) He's always been a clown of sorts, seeming to pull the appropriate phase out when we least expected it. Like us calling to one of the cats by name several times and then Louie blurting out loudly "Hey! com-mir". Another is when the grandkids stay over and later Louie has suddenly learned "quit it!". The funniest one though has to be the cough. February of 2008, I had bronchitis with a wheezing cough that lasted about a month. Sometime later, not immediately, I barely cough to clear my throat and Louie starts this terrible sounding cough with that awful wheezing sound tacked on the end. It was hilarious and he likes to do it all the time.

I just love stories like this....The best to both families and to Louie~!

p.s. Ken............I am laughing at the Louie"cough"....Sweetie does it,too. After my bout w/ a severe cold,Sweetie decided to become"sick" LOL Her cough is so realistic,it sounds just like the cough I had and she sometimes puts the wheeze on the end.Too funny.
