Hi,
I hate to be doing this, but things are just not working out with my Kiwi. Financially and timewise I can't take care of him as much as I want to. I am in college and I'm not able to be home with him enough during the day. He also has become attached to only me so my parents would not be the best option. They both work and don't have time to dedicate to helping him become more friendly. If you can help me either by opening your home to him or giving me info on an aviary or rescue close to me that would be great. I only ask for a small donation and a loving home. Thanks

So sorry things arent working out.. I would love to take him in but Im in Missouri. What is his donation fee and does that include his cage? Is he dna a male?. These are questions that Im sure will be asked. Wish I was closer.

hey,
I don't care what the donation fee is and it isn't required. As long as I know he is in a good home. It will include his cage and anything else I have for him. He is not DNA male but all my animals I have are males so it just stuck with me. I hope this helps.

It is. I am about 20 minutes from a couple beaches and the winters (except this one) are usually pretty mild. we haven't gotten any snow and I just feel so bad for everyone who just got pounded this season. It makes for a big mess and that is not fun for anyone. The only downside to living here is the humidity. It could be 68 degrees but with the humidity you still sweat. lol owell it's still a great place

I am in MD and can provide a home. I have only one Quaker at the moment and one more won't be that much trouble.
I can drive or meet half way if you consider me a good choice.
I would also need a list of his favorite foods, favorite toys, and best and worse times of the day to interact.

I would love to give him a home but I'm in South Carolina and I'm not sure how he could get here.

hey, if you absolutely have to give him up, I would first try to find someone on here...at least you know he will be going to someone with bird/quaker experience.
If you can't find anyone, you can relinquish him to Phoenix Landing. They are a great rescue/adoption organization that covers MD, VA, NC and Tennessee. I am a volunteer for them so I may be able to come get him for you or a VA volunteer will (I'm in MD). Here is their website and info on relinquishing your bird:
http://www.phoenixlanding.org/So sorry you have to give Kiwi up. I would absolutely love to take him for you, but I already have Darwin and two budgies and my dad won't allow anymore. Plus I may be going to grad school in CA next year, and they are illegal there. My friend who is a bird trainer will keep Darwin for me, but I don't want to have her take care of anymore birds for me if she doesn't have to.
Hey,
Thanks for that info. I thin I was on there website this morning because I was going to look here first but if no success then I would relinquish him to a rescue. If someone could come get him or drive a good ways that would be awesome. I think someone on here is interested but if she doesn't want him or can't for any reason they will be the first place I will take him. Thanks again

I stay in Fayettville NC would love to have him, but I do not drive any more since I was hit by a drunk driver. Trying to figure out if some of my family closer that way could get him for me. I don't leave home unless it is to the Doctor or a quick run to the store down the road. If you do not find anyone near to you.

Thank you Keri, for trusting me with Kiwi!
Y'all, I posted the first contact story in the Rescued Fids Update section to keep this section uncluttered.
Just let me say that so far, he seems a dear. He was frightened when he first came out of his cage, but that's to be expected. He's resting comfortably now.
