Hey guys, You will never guess what happen for me last Wednesday. My husband called me and said someone was giving away a Blue Front Amazon. It has been in an office environment for many years now and no one was really taking care of her and now they just want her to go to a good home. Wow I said I'll pick up up at lunch. I did, and you would not believe how wonderful this baby is. Her name is Peanut. She is 12 years old. Someone traded her in as part of a deal for a new camper. When I got there an meet the owner, he just said I could have sold her for 500.00 but he just want her to go to a good home. And that was that. Nothing more. Her cage is in really bad shape. Really bad. She was not allowed out or away from her cage. Different ones would rub her head. A guy there told me that to get her cage clean they would roll her and the cage outside and wash it and her off with a hose. mad.gif
She talks none stop. Of course she would get really loud a few times a day and they would spay her down or put her in another room and close the door. She was given coffee and seed as a diet. She has been to the vet for check ups and wing clippings and nail trims. I'm going to call that vets office today and see if I can get her records. Well I kept her at work with me the rest of the day. ( I went and got a large carrying cage to keep her in.) They told me she did get out of her cage all by her self so they used paper clips to keep her in the cage. She had two very old toys. I had to towel her to put her in the cage I had gotten. She will not step up as no one has worked with her or ever taken her out of her cage. More that vet checks and they used a towel then. So that went ok. I stayed home with her yesterday. She is a doll. Says all kinds of things. She loves to say whatever! And whaaat? I let her out of the cage all day. Bless her heart she didn't go back in to eat or drink till about five that night. She would run in and grab something out of her food bowl and run back up top. Lol I held her water up for her and she would drink. She let me kiss the top of her head a few times. After two days she let my hold her. Awwww she didn't know how to step up so she just kinda leaned up against me and I picked her up. I got the feeling she has never been held just for the fun of it. Her footing was very awkward. I held her and just kissed her and rubbed her head for a long time. We did that a few times yesterday. I added new perches to her cage and she doe's now seem to know how they work. She go's out of her way not to step on them? I also added a phone book for her to chew up and she loves that. She does and great dance and likes it when you sing to her. At night she sings herself to sleep. Sooooooo sweet. I can't get over how loving this bird is. Maybe it's because of not being sure of where she is but my gosh she is a doll. The down side is she needs a new cage. She also cry's like an infant baby and it would drive a saint crazy. wacko.gif This last about five min's a day give or take a few min's. I want to keep her ( i really do) but feel it is not in her best interest as I already have three birds and I work long hours and can't take her with me. Believe me when I say that this bird is a jewel and I'm Crazy about her. She is very sweet and loving. Has not bitten me or evern acted like she might. I have two people now that want her but there hours and how she would be cared for keeps me from wanting to hand her over. I want her to go to someone that will love her like she deserves to be loved. Give her time out of her cage and give her a safe environment with lots of everything. Someone who would be comfortable with a bird of her size although she is on the small side for an amazon. There is a re home fee of 100.00 what it cost me to get the carrying cage and some toys. Oh and you have to come and get her here, I don't want to fly her anywhere. She likes to ride so no worries there.
Please pm me if you are the one for her. I'll be glad to answer any questions.

blink.gif poor thing. sad to think she had to live like that for so long. I truely wish I could help out. A blue front is def at the top of my list along with an Ekkie for another bird. HA! and I'll be driving to NC at the end of the month. sad.gif unfortunetly now is just not an ideal time. I wish you the best of luck in rehoming her. she has certainly put in her time. *hint hint* send a PM to Weeza. LOL She was just saying in another thread I think not that long ago how she would have loved to have another Blu Front but couldn't afford one at their prices. Maybe she could help? Just a thought.

Thanks Skipper. You know I'm not in any hurry for her to go anywhere. Soooo if time is all you need just let me know. It's going to be hard to let her go. She is just to funny and fun.

I wish I could take her, but it's too far for me. My wonderful blue front, Princess died when my house burned in 1987 and I have never gotten over her. She was my best friend ever.
At my age now, I'd worry about what would happen to another bird when I am gone. I pray you find a wonderful home for this precious bird.

Awww Thanks! But see that's the thing...I have NO IDEA when I will. See my dogs live with me now that I have bought my house. and god love em I have 1 that I could trust not to harm my "small pets" ( a german shorthair pointer noless LOL) it's my big guy I can't trust (husky mix need I say more? wink.gif ) And while he is older (10)and still moving around decent it will prob be up to a couple of years unless he gets really bad (he has horrid horrid Hip Dysplasia)his mind is still sharp. I just won't risk a Fid's life. I worry about my 2 now. It helps that he goes to work with me everyday and he behaves when I'm home.

But if you find that you still have need of a home for her at that time please feel free to consider me! wink.gif I like going to NC at least 1 a year because my sis lives there. so the drive doesn't bother me a bit. She is certainly a beautiful girl. I'm sure she will enjoy her new found freedom!

Oh she is beautiful! I wish I were closer. I would love to have another amazon. I had a red lored and a lady begged me for him and I gave in and have regretted it since. I still miss him like crazy. He has a wonderful home now though and it treated like a king so it all worked out well. Good Luck in finding her a good home!

Dang!! Even more reason to hate Chicago .. besides winter .. is I'm too far to give this baby a home.

Good luck with her, she sounds awesome, and you're a great person to jump in and save her!

I'm in eastern Iowa, otherwise I would be willing to take her. My wife probably would throw me out though. biggrin.gif How many hour drive would that be? rolleyes.gif 873 miles away = about 16.5 hrs blink.gif

Good luck, she sounds like a fantastic Blue Front!

Any prospects yet? cool.gif

Lisa, would you consider shipping her? While, I'd love to have a blue front, I'm not in the market. But if you'd be willing to ship her since she needs a new cage anyway... Maybe some of our members would make a great home for her.

Honestly, shipping is NOT as traumatic as some people make it out to be.

Something to think about anyway.

She sounds like a doll.

Well, I found a great home for peanut . They are coming to get her this weekend. sad.gif I know I'm suppose to be happy for her and I am. She has been such a joy to have around. Thanks to everyone who replyed to us. I love this fourm and the people on it and I trust everyone very much. If it doesn't work out I'll keep shipping her in mind if it's not to hard on them. I just don't know much about it and really wanted her not to have to go through anything to stressful.

I'm head over heals for her and if I could I would have loved to keep her. blush.gif
I'm not very good at writing or expressing myself but peanut is a very good bird.
Ohhh well at least she will have a much better life now. biggrin.gif

Thanks Guys for everything. smile.gif
