Victoria...Love's...Lola
I have a ten year old African Grey parrot. We live in Central Michigan. Jako has never been sexed and can talk and knows a few tricks. We are asking $500 dollars for her with her cage and toys. She just isnt getting the attention she needs here. I am the oldest child and I am 15. I have two younger siblings and my parents are always running. The bird is my mom's and she just isnt spending time with her. She was saved from an abusive home and was completely scared of humans. Since then she has come a long way. She does have some biting problems. And when she gets bored she gets into trouble. She loves men but is fine with women and kids. We also have one other bird. She is a 2 year old quaker. They have never really been close because i fear that Jako would kill my quaker but they have seen each other and she didnt go after my quaker. She is fine with our two dogs and our cat. She is fine with kids but really isnt handled by anyone younger then 15 because my brother and sister are scared of her. But they have held her before and she was just fine. She hasnt been to a vet in about year but she did have her beak filed. The vet said she was perfectly heathly and said she was "plump" she does eat well. She loves human food. And at some points she is annoying because if you are eating and dont share she will become unhappy. She just isnt getting the attention she needs here and we would like her to go to a family that has time to play with her and train her the way she should be trained. If you have any questions let me know...

Geeze! lol I have been looking for a grey rehome. I wonder how hard it would be to get a fid across the border. hmm lol dry.gif

I know for dogs all you need is a clean bill of health and a current vaccination record. I don't think it would be as hard as you would expect. International adoption is all the rage now, ask Madonna, Angelina......LOL

I wonder what it would cost to ship a bird from the US to Australia........ mellow.gif. Are we allowed to import parrots?
lovemyboys
Are you also rehoming the quaker?

I'm in Louisiana or I would take him, but that is too far to drive.

I don't think you can import birds to Canada, I believe it's a difficult process but i don't know for sure. unsure.gif My friend breeds Greys and always has rescues coming in, I'll keep my eye out for one if you really are interested. smile.gif

Good luck finding a home for Jako.

Casey's mom; I didn't think it was easy to import a bird to Canada. It would be so awsome if you could keep an eye out for a rescue or rehome for me. I have found a few in need of a new home, but people want $1000-$1200 for a rehome. It is kind of rediculous.
Wishing you the best of luck finding Jako a new home! smile.gif

Its next to impossible to import birds especially into Canada from the US and vise versa. If you were fortunate enough to be granted the priviledge it would be very expensive and with the quarantine period you probably wouldn't see the bird for 30 days after you knew he arrived...well that isn't actually true, you'd be able to visit but that's it. You would also be responsible for the boarding fee's etc etc.

From what I understand, the only ones granted a chance to import are zoo's and game reserves (parrots that is)

But I do wish you luck good luck in finding a new home for your birds.
