I make all my own trees. It takes a bit of time but, they love them.

I'll go see if I have any pictures of mine. Give me a few minutes and I'll try and post a pic and the easy instructions. rolleyes.gif

These don't show the entire tree but, you can get the idea.

Get a nice size bucket, or I go to the dollar store and buy a pretty plastic planter.

A bag of quick set concrete from Home Depot/Loews.

Next I go out and pick up a good sturdy branch with a few forks in it. For the QP's I use Maple. They seem to really like to strip the bark off of these. That will work as your tree trunk.

Then gather smaller sticks the size that your QP will like sitting and climbing on.

I trim off all the little leaves that are starting to grow and any bad spots I see on the wood. Then I put them in the tub with hot bleach water and scrub them within an inch of their lives with a little scrubby.
Then rinse them to death. I usually have already trimmed them down to 2-3' pieces. Then I put them in a low heat oven for an hour or so until them are nice and dry.

Now you are ready to start building.

mix up your concrete in a bucket according to directions. Put the tree trunk into the center of the planter/bucket and pour the quick set concrete in. This thing will be ready to build within an hour.

When it's solid I start weaving the smaller branches in and fastening them to the trunk with plastic zipper ties. This makes the tree.

Fill with toys and "voila" you have a tree. When the branches are good and stripped you can clip off the ties and put new branches on. And it is easy to clean off too. Wipe it down with vinegar water or if you are lucky enough to have a little steamer hit it with that. Let it dry well and then they can climb back on it.

Good luck. If you have any questions just holler.

Bumping this up so I can find it tomorrow when I have time to build!
