Bailey was my female quaker parrot. I got her when she was 5 weeks old and finished weaning her. I had her for 5 years and she started laying eggs after we got our cockatiels. She had some kind of prolapse (I forgot what the vet called it), in other words her insides came to the outside. She had two surgeries but passed away. It has really devastated me and my husband. She was our first bird and we loved her dearly. In the last month I have also lost one of my cockatiels, Josie. I took Josie to the vet after seeing some blood, the vet said to take her out of the cage with Louie and to bring her back in a week. She gave her some medicine also. I came home got Louie settled in another cage, gave Josie her medicine and put Louies cage beside hers and covered them up. The next morning Josie had died. I had bought a 5 week old lovebird named Lucky. A few days after Josie passed away, I found Lucky on the bottom of the new cage I had bought him. He died in my hand, I can only guess that he somehow fell and maybe broke his neck. I really don't know what happened to little Lucky who it seems was not Lucky at all. I only have Louie left and he really misses the other birds especially Josie. I really miss my birds sad.gif
I will be getting another quaker soon, a beautiful blue one from Gail.

So sorry for your losses, it's hard to go through once...let alone 3 times in a short period.
How wonderful that your getting one of Gail's babies. They are sooooo adorable. It's exciting to know that we will be able to stay in touch with at least 1 of them!! We all feel like aunts and uncles after getting to watch them grow up biggrin.gif

I'm sorry for your losses. I know that it is extremely painful to lose a loved one that you've been with for years. Strange -- Lucky seemed so.. out of danger ? Maybe there's something more to these baby lovies dying out like this... mine was just a little one too -- just about through with the weaning process.. Oh well -- best wishes and warm fuzzy thoughts to you and your babies smile.gif .

Rose,
Thank you for your reply. I have returned from my visit from IN (my oldest son and his family live there) I will always remember my first bird, which was my qp Bailey. I now have Alex the blue qp from Gail and Tilley the little cockatiel from Gail. They are delightful and very loving and I already love them biggrin.gif I will be posting pics soon.
