I was just curious...I had to bury mine this morning (the hardest thing to do) after 14 yrs of having him. I read they can live up to 30 yrs.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Bird-man-iac has one who's nearing 30, I believe.

You have my sympathy. I can't imagine how hard it must be to lose one after 14 year.

First of all my compliments to Bird-man-iac for 1)raising such a large brood and 2)successfully doing so. You must be doing something right.
Having said that I want to say that even though we all want our pets to live to a ripe old age life has its own schedule. There is no guarantee, so enjoy your pets, enjoy your loved ones as if they won't be here tomorrow because as I found out they may not. My Coolio was happy and full of vinegar the day before he died. I had no indication; I knew that the vet said he may have some liver problems and wanted to see him more often but that expected him to be around for a long time yet. I was walking past the window as I was carrying groceries from the car; he saw my head bobbing up and down past and got all excited. He hollered out the window, real loud "Hi baby!". I had to stop and chat with him with my arms full. Precious moment.
