rolleyes.gif Well its really not good being bored ..lol..I spent today changing the boys room around and decided I would like new cages for the boys , mine are over 10years old and have a bit of wear and tear showing ..We here (downunder) are not as lucky with choices as you guys , who have the best brands and cages around..BUT I am happy with these I found on ebay...and I can`t wait to get them.. tongue.gif I love the idea of playtops , and especiially as they are completely removable..basically the same size as the boys have now except less height because of the play top , thats o.k they hardly ever used the bottom space , only when the doors were open to chuck the toys out of the cage or rip up the paper..

Sandi Kiwis Mom
Those are nice roomy cages! The FIDS are lucky that you got bored laugh.gif
Jeepingchick
nice! lucky fids!!!
Majj
Yes I love my old ones too , but its time for a change ...and I love to think I can make some other birds more comfortable with a big cage poor things are triple the size (or more) of my boys and live in pretty small cages ... smile.gif off to bed now its late and I want to get warm the winter is sure creeping up on us ....

also the old ones (below) have 1" bar space which has always bothered me I have never had a problem but I know its not good..so when I saw that the new ones were basically the same size with 3/4 " bar space I just couldn`t help myself ..

I also cooked another months batch of Bird dinners the boys love it when I cook they were my helpers I took a couple of piccys will download tomorrow .. :)Have a great weekend all...

That looks almost identical to the cage my Dodger has smile.gif I think its great..easy to clean with the full-size door as well. If it is the same cage Majj..my only warning would be the cage lock.Dodger broke his within the first few months.Hbby had to weld another one onto it.
Esther C
Nice cages. You spoil your babies.
zoemc
Nice buy Majj. I was looking at those cages myself just a few days ago. I like you, look at the range of cages in the US and can't understand why they don't have distributors here too! Looking forward to seeing the final set up! smile.gif
LuvMyHarley1
I was going to say the same thing Angie...It looks very similar to what Harley has, but this one has a wider door which I would prefer to...Of course this cage Majj is wider than Harley's also...Anyway, I think Sunny and ?, oh heck, forgot blue's name, lol...okay, the boys will enjoy their new castles.... tongue.gif smile.gif At least you'll be able to get your arm in better through that door than I do mine....

Show us your setup when you get them Majj...I know you are looking forward to their arrival....
Majj
I will Julie ...yes I am excited .. tongue.gif
Angie here is a picture of the lock ... is it the same ..???
My boys have never bothered with the locks on their cages so hopefully they won`t start anyway...

I hate assembling things (not good at it) so I will be extra sweet to Hubby and son (Joe and David) wub.gif wub.gif

P.S ... Buddy is the blue fids name Julie smile.gif

they look like great cages i just got my new cage for Roxy because we are letting them share a cage from all the feedback i have from everyone............... we bought it from a breeder and we have painted in and cleaned it all up its like new

one thing i was wondering if you guys new is where do you get those balls with holes in them where they hang from the cages??? i really want to get a couple

thanks
kate
Even though the new cages are gonna be really nice....it would be soooo hard for me to part with the old ones. They are sooo unique. But change is inevitable for most everything. It will be fun setting up the new ones. smile.gif

hi all

well i went to the best pet shop around in brissie today and i could not find the hide and seek balls anywhere. Are they only available overseas? why is this? australia is so behind it frustrates me sometimes lol

i have also been trying to find a book on quakers and no luck there either sad.gif
Majj
unfortunately its true you have to send to the U.S for one I searched high and low before I found I had to do that but they are so good I would say its well worth it...

Actually there is one place selling them in Australia now that I have found. I bought Pluto's Jollyball from there a year or so ago. She appears to have one in stock too - http://www.parrotrescuecentre.com/prc_shop..._7.cfm?cat_id=7

wow thanks zoe i have been searching the all afternoon with no luck geez they are expensive though arent they but i guess it would be more if i got it shipped from overseas. thanks heaps
zoemc
yes they are a little pricey but must admit well worth it. There isn't a day that Pluto isn't tickling himself in his jollyball. I looked into buying them from the US back then and our Aussie dollar was even better than it is now at the time and I was like argh... plus I am impatient and wanted it sooner rather than later. I was so thrilled when I found them at the parrot rescue centre as I buy from her when ever I am splurging on Pluto. Nice to think you are helping a good cause whilst spoiling your own fid. smile.gif It did take Pluto a while to get used to it though. He was pretty scared at first but with a few treats and a facewasher in the bottom for extra comfort he was in like a rat up a drain pipe.
Majj
wow !! thats good to know to let other Aussies know ..But I won`t need any more ...I have JJ`s (who is no longer with us in Body) and the boys play in it too but its huge so just sits on the shelf in their bird room... :)Their Balls are 10Inch and fit in their cages to sleep..

Majj
Good Day all on the otherside of the globe...off to bed downunder, new cages are assembled and the boys are sleeping in them tonight , no drama as their Jolly Ball (which they sleep in) is in, the cages look a little sparse but I will eventually add new stuff , a bit smaller than their previous cages but they usually are just in them for sleeping so thats fine .. I`ll post piccys soon , the room is a mess with the old cages and the new ones ,tomorrow afternoon I will move the old cages outside for a good scrub..smile.gif..
Taking the folks to the bank/shoping and for lunch in the morning...Yeah !! I love fridays and we get a long weekend too....whoo !!!!
Night my friends...
Majj
I am home after a day out with the folks its 2pm , going to spend some time with the boys till I go for a walk at 4pm (fingers crossed the rain stays away) I will take some piccys of the new cages and post later tonight, I have ordered some perches from the Parrot rescue Centre , and will get some new toys when I can , I bought 2 Stainless steel kitchen/bathroom shelves that hang from the cage and form a place to put the boys dinner dish of cooked veggies , I love the cages though feel sorry to see the old ones go I have them outside and will wash and clean them up before sending them to their new homes....
Hope everyone is enjoying their day/night..

Back later ..Yeah!!!!!!!! I love fridays ....
Majj
O.K here are the piccys ....I love tha cages the boys have settled in fine ..I remove the play-stands off the top of anight to cover the cages ....no problems...
Off to bed we have a long weekend I have to clean the other cages and am delivering one on Sunday for a friend with a Galah (in a small cage)...

Looking into the boys room from the kitchen ..I can close it off when I am cooking and the boys watch me in safety and I can chat to them..

zoemc
they came up great! I like who you have mirrored the toys in their cage. clever thinking. wink.gif
Majj
Thanks Zoe...
I have now swapped the cages around so each Ball is at the end ..I had it like that because I thought the boys would like to see each other but for some reason Sunny likes to sleep the other end so hopefully now he will go in the ball (I left a peep hole in the covers of a night so they could see each other)Buddy has no problems at all settling in ..
Have a great weekend ..
Quincy's Slave
This is a Canadian site that ships worldwide and they have them too

Majj
My boys love their Jolly Balls it was the best investment I have made I am so happy they have them if ever I need to leave them at the vets or to be minded somewhere I would take them so they would feel less afraid to be away from home....
I spent this afternoon adding extra perches and a few toys...also took a video of Buddy which I will share as soon as its uploaded to Photo bucket ..
Goodnight all bedt time down under...

Majj
still waiting for video clip to load... rolleyes.gif
Majj
Here we go now Im off to bed nighty night all...

zoemc
oh he is adorable! I always swoon over his colour. I see he has the angry quaker bop just like Pluto - "I want to come play, but what on earth is that funny thing you are holding mum!!?"
Majj
LOL yeah , you can hear Sunny in the back ground sqwalking ..Buddy is bopping because I kept putting him in the ball to get pictures and video ..lol.. he is such a good boy , Sunny was having none of it....lol..

Have a Good Sunday all its cool here we are leaving soon to present a Galah with a nice big cage I will try to remember to take the camera to get some piccys.... smile.gif
Majj
Another clip of the boys taken before we left today...
I fell in love with Jack the Galah..left piccys on the General Pet Bird Discussion forum....

Ang
I still think these are the best cages I have seen. I wonder if they would ship from Aussie to here? I like everything about the cages, and it seems most I have found that are larger have a 1 inch bar spacing.

I really would love to find a cage like yours Maji.

Any ideas at all?

Thank you smile.gif
Majj
Mmmmmmmm I think HQ has one similar but the play top doesn`t come off ..someone from the USA would know But I am sure you can get cages that size there , it would be strange if you could not you guys have so much available that we don`t ..freight would probably cost a fortune even if they did ship..I`ll have a look and come back later just got home and the boys want OUT to play.. smile.gif

Hi Majj,

I'm looking for a shelf for each of my fids cages. I like the ones you have for the inside of their cage doors. Did they come with the cages or did you get them separately? If you got them separately from their cages can you tell me where you got them from? I would so appreciate that.

Thank you,
Lynda

Majj
No I got them from the hardware store (they are bath /shower soap holders ) I use them to put their nightly dish of veggies...

What a fabulous idea, I love them! Guess you know where I'm going. This forum is the best we all get such great ideas from others. smile.gif

Thank you so much,
Lynda
