The Baset bustle was amazing. Seeing over 100 bassets at the dog park on Saturday was quite the sight. You guys asked for pictures, so here they are.
Friday at around 1pm we left for our 1.5 hour car ride to the residence and conference centre where some of us were staying with our dogs. That night we had a pizza party in one of the meeting rooms. There was probably around 30 bassets that showed up for the pizza party.



Bella was tired from the car ride, so she spent the last hour in the corner of the room away from the excitement.



Saturday morning we were off to the off-leash dog park where the bustle was taking place. We were there around 10am, and Bella began touring the grounds and making friends.



Here is a video of the bustle. Not everyone was there when it took place, but it was still a lot of bassets.



Bella came in 2nd in the costume contest. There were a lot of pretty cool costumes there. Here is Bella. She actually kept the hat on.

And this is who she lost to.



I entered her in the "boxer shorts relay" where she took home the 1st place prize. This contest you had to take a pair of mens boxers and put them on your basset with their tail sticking through. Someone would then hold your dog at one end of the park, while the owners went to the opposite end. On the count of 3 the dogs were released and the owners had to call their dogs to come to them. The dog who made it to their correct owner first, won. Bella came straight to me, with all the distractions. I actually had someone else's dog come straight to me as well. lol I didn't get a picture of this, because I was apart of it. It was great fun.

Bella found a nice place to lay while the raffle was being drawn. Unfortunately I didn't win any of the draws, but it didn't matter. All the proceeds went to an amazing cause.



We then went back to the residence and conference center. It was about 3:30pm when we got back and everyong was tired. Bella went to bed as soon as we walked in the door.



And that was my exciting weekend in a nutshell.

Wow I've never seen so many bassets at one time---just gorgeous Katie....and yep poor Bella is certainly give out....but she did strut her stuff...

Looks like a fun time to me! I am amazed at how many of them were in such great shape. Some people get the way to fat and it's bad on their poor backs. I have a Corgi and the same happens to them.

I had a Basset years ago. She used to leave home and go to the Dairy Queen (about a mile and a half) They'd give her a hot dog and call me to come get her.

Flash was so arrogant. If she was walking away from you, and you called her name, she stopped, turned and looked at you, turned back around and kept walking. She had to say "I hear you, but I'm not paying any attention to you. I am QUEEN, I will do as I please!"

I was also surprised, as I did not see too many that were extremely overweight.

lol Bella is the exact same way. I was shocked that she won the boxer shorts relay because she usually is more interested in whats going on around her than she is in listening to me.

Looks like everybody had a good time......Bella should of won first place tho. I think her costume was pretty cute...

I thnk Bella's costume was way better than No. 1, but they're all adorable. I'm amazed she came to you, too. George does the same thing -- turn and look when you call him, then keep going. It's like, "Nah, don't wanna, and you can't make me." Unless, of course, there's food involved. He'll come for food. Usually. Sometimes I have to take it to him. Yes, I take it to him. I always wanted to go to a basset event but they never have one nearby, and George isn't altered, so he probably wouldn't be welcome, anyway. It looks like such fun.
