Full Version: Skittles Needs Someone With A Big Heart

7 years ago my shy 12 year daughter old spent every spare second with Skittles, her little green Quaker. We purchased Skittles from a breeder who had cages so overcrowded that the parents were chewing the babies' feet off. She told us it was a genetic trait for the Quakers to be missing toes (or feet) however we read about the overcrowding behavior in a book about Quakers. So Skittles is missing a toe. But thats not all he's missing. By the time my daughter turned 16 she had less and less time for Skittles and he began pulling out all his feathers. First the legs, then the chest and now the tail and wings are slowly starting to get thinner. He is so frustrated and alone it breaks my heart. Unfortunately the loud insistent calling from his cage only serves to aggravate my husband who then bans Skittles to the bathroom alone with his mirror (his only comfort.) Anyone who approaches his cage recieves very loud fussing and attempted biting from Skittles, even when we try to feed him or change his water.Skittles loves my daughter and will only go to her. With her he talks and kisses and does little dances and is so happy. But now she has decided to move into a house near college campus and the landlord does not accept pets. I just hope that there is someone out there who knows how to and wants to rehabilitate this little bird. It will surely take someone with a big heart and alot of love to give. We live in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

That is so sad. That little fid has a broken heart sad.gif
I hope he finds someone to lavish all the time and attention that he craves, that he can learn to accept.
Oh, my heart is breaking for him.
