This is a thread I hoped never to have to do, not for years.

It is with a heavy grieving heart I tell you of the passing of Blue.  He was only with us for a short time but that short time was already filled with memories I shall keep for a lifetime.  He came to us as a stray bird who flew into a neighbours carport.  They couldn't look after him, and so I  was the lucky first time owner of this outrageous little character!

We had him with us for about six weeks when a family emergency meant we had to leave him in the care of my son while we went overseas for a sick relative.  We've been here in England for eight weeks, and only three days from returning home, I find our little feather baby has passed on. 

It makes it just that much harder cause I couldn't be with him, he died alone with my son at work. He is buried in our garden now, our son buried him in the corner of the garden dedicated to our beloved dogs, the three are together there, so I can go down the garden and talk with them there.  He is buried with his favourite toy, so at least he has something familiar with him.

He was only with us a short time, but I will grieve for him for  along time to come, such was the impact he made on our lives.  I had so many plans for him on my return home.

RIP little friend, you will be sadly missed.

Oh I am so sorry, my heart aches for you. Sending you my condolences and prayers.

I am sorry for your loss... But they are just words on a page. Yesterday, I came home to find my parrotlet had suffered from egg-binding, while I was gone for the weekend.

So I feel your pain of not being able to be there. And the thought that maybe if you had been there was something you could have done. But from my own experience I found :: You have to except the possibility that there may have been nothing that could have been done.

And as far as dying alone... I thought that for about five seconds, before I remembered that those that die are never alone. They have god with them. Whatever you believe that to be.

Personally the Goddess has always been in my life, and I cannot believe that She would not be there when my bird was dieing. Isn't God supposed to be everywhere?

Animals have that unique sense, and I am certain that neither my bird nor your's was alone when they died. I hope that is some comfort to you.
