Hello, i'm new to the forum, but I could use some help.
I'm moving to Australia in month and can't take Kelly with me. I would really like to find a good home for her.
She was hatched in May of 2001, and I brought her home in August that year, and she's been with me ever since. She's been in a variety of homes and been exposed to a variety of people, as i have moved around a lot in the past few years. I think she'll fit in any new environment very nicely(although may take a little time and band-aids to get used to being handled by you).
She is very energetic and talkative. Some of the things she says are:
Nolan - when she wants the food you're eating.
good Morning - when you say it to first thing in the morning.
good night, kisskisskiss - when you shut the lights out and say goodnight to her and make kissy sounds.
good kelly
you're a good girl
buttercup - my old cat- and she would also say it when she saw the rabbit I was watching for a friend.
goodbye kelly - when i pick up keys, or say goodbye kelly to her when leaving
what's my name
good poopie - tried to potty train her, and it stopped at that.
water
dance - then she'll bob her head up and down
she makes raspberries, and whistles
she'll laugh when anyone in the room is laughing
she'll make a kissy sound when you kiss someone in front of her.
there is probably more that i'm forgetting.
she knows some tricks.
she'll shake when you put your finger up and ask her to shake.
I am still working on the wave with the wing, but i think she'll get it eventually.
if you ask her what a chicken says she'll bock like a chicken (although sometimes she'll just repeat 'what's a chicken say')
she'll dance with you and say 'dance' if you're dancing
if you're singing she'll try to sing along too.
She'll sit on the shower rod while you're in the shower, and you can set her in the tub sometimes with water and she'll take a bath.
She'll ride around on your shoulder, and pick your hair(watch out for earrings.)
She is flighted, and I would prefer her to stay that way. She is really good about finding you in another room, and she'll land on your shoulder, or your outstretched hand. You can also say 'cage' and launch her off your hand, and she'll find her cage.
She has a favorite toy, a gold headband that she carries everywhere in her cage.
She has started weaving her feathers into her cage as well.
I call her a she, but she has never been sexed, and has never laid eggs.
When she was young she had some picking problems with her leg, and had to be collared, which led to a bald spot on the underside of her neck.
She'll eat anything, and expects you to share if you're eating in front of her.
I have about a month left here in KC. I'd be willing to drive a ways to drop her off, or to set up a meeting, if it means she'll find a good home.
Please feel free to reply or email me if you have any questions, or want to see more pictures.
Thank you
Nolan
