Full Version: Need To Rehome My Cat

I've been having no luck in finding Ashton a new home. I've posted flyers at pet stores, vet's offices, and even in the apartment complex where we live. No luck. Seems no one wants a cat right now. I've even put this cat on craigslist for a reasonable fee, and still no takers.

I'm getting desperate, and the only other option is to take him to the SPCA in my area. I didn't want to have to do that to him, but it looks more and more like I might have to. I can't keep him, but I at least wanted to make sure he'd be going somewhere good. Sometimes it's a curse to be good hearted.

If anyone can help at all in any way, please PM me. Thank you. ~Angela

Is there a cat-specific veterinarian in your area? We have one here -- you might look in the phone book. That might get you more results than a general-practice veterinarian because most people who have cats have more than one, or would like to!

You might also see if there's a rescue organization that specializes in cats. I would REALLY be skittish about Craigslist. You never know what kind of person you might encounter. What if it were someone who wanted "bait" for a fighting dog?

Yeah, I didn't like putting him on craigslist either. I'm taking down the ad. There is one place that might still be cat specific, I'll check into it. Thanx.

I'm so sorry it's come to this, I know it's hard and you're making the right choice for everyone. smile.gif Good luck! You know, I'm a member of a group on Yahoo that is cat-specific...you might post something there, or I can on your behalf...

How about putting an ad in the paper?????????????????Is there a no-kill shelter there?
A-Lynn
Dani, yeah you can post for me over in that group. It's gotta be someone in the Tampa Bay area in Florida.

Esther C, there is a no kill shelter in town, but they aren't taking anymore cats until the end of July. I think I'll inquire about putting an ad in the paper and see where that goes.
Thanx guys. ~Angela

UPDATE:

I'm taking the cat to the local no-kill SPCA. He clawed me very badly last night when I was trying to sleep, and it drew blood. I called the SPCA, and they are a good place to take him. I just can't deal with the stress of being cooped up with him in my bedroom anymore. Thank you all for your help. ~Angela
