I've been thinking about getting a Quaker Parrot for a very long time; however, I would like to help out one in need rather then just buy one in a pet store. I've been doing research the past year and I know I can take care of one.

I live in the Chicagoland area, but I'd be willing to drive an hour or two if need be. There is only one thing I need to settle before I get one, so this isn't a for-sure thing, I need to make sure everything checks out.

Any help is appreciated. <3

There is a bird rescue in northwest Indiana called For Birdlovers only. They actually own the cockatoo that dances and is on YouTube and on the new taco bell commercial. Anyway, they specialize in larger birds but sometimes have Quakers. Their webite is forbirdloversonly.com. Good luck!

McGregor is a 6 year old Green Quaker, DNA tested male hand fed baby who has been with our family of since he was one. He is very charming, loves to snuggle and has about 20 words. He responds to "How are you" saying "I'm good", I love you, Hi bird, Hi McGregor, etc. He has bonded with me but will step up with my husband and 16 year old daughter. He currently lives with two cats and a dog and he's used to being in the center of the household. I can no longer provide care for him due to an illness. We live in the Metro Milwaukee area. We can barely stand to part with him but we have assured the kids that there is someone out there who will love him and care for him the rest of his life. He has been vet checked annually and is in excellent health and weight. If you can provide a permanent home for McGregor, we would look forward to hearing from you.I happened to see this in the same forum you posted in. Maybe you could contact her or leave a reply, I'm sure you know Milwaukee is not that far from Chicago. Good Luck smile.gif

I'm in Minneapolis and have 2 Quakers (adults, both male), who I am looking to rehome if I can find the right home for them. Baby speaks like crazy, Gabby, not as much. They are sweet, with Quaker spirit.

Hi Wolfy,

There is a member from here that is rehoming all her birds. She has a tame blue and a tame green one available. Very very cheap with cages. She is looking to rehome ASAP, if you PM me I will give you her info.
BTW she is in the Chicago area.

Wolfy:
Looks like someone had kindly already made you aware of McGregor. It is the posting just above yours on this page. We live in Brookfield, WI, just about an hour north of you. Please contact me if you are interested in talking about him. He's a great pal, very chatty and loves to cuddle.
