Sorry, I haven't been on much, have a lot going on including feeding babies and the other thing is there are a lot more non-breeders here than breeders with a couple of them on vacation so most likely the ones who viewed were wondering what the post was about but didnt' have the answer. Now on to your question

The best size box is a cockatiel box, I believe the size is 12 X 12. They run around $15.00 and can be purchased at most any pet store. On line you can find them at most pet bird store sites I have even seen them on ebay. There are some out there that are made of a vinyl or steel material and are easier to clean, but they are expensive and to me they would seem to be too hot. As to the inside I use aspen or pine wood shavings, never use treated shavings such as cedar because of the odor and substance on it. When you put it in the box it should be 3-4 inches thickness so when the babies are born they have something firm but not slippery to stand on that way they don't get splayed legs.

I apologize you didn't get an answer right away, however, this time of year in the summer there are not as many people on line as often so it sometimes takes a little longer to get a response.
