I don't blame you if you don't believe what I'm going to tell you. I wouldn't have, either, if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes.

Last night I went it to play with Henry, who doesn't want to be bothered before about 10 p.m. I saw this pile of chewed up newspaper in front of his little house, too much to account for the minor chewing he had done to the newspaper in his aquarium. Then I saw a little pink nose poke out the window of his house and he was shoving the newspaper out of his house. Then he came out, got some freshly chewed up newspaper, and took it IN his house.

He was cleaning his own house!!!! ohmy.gif

Lest you think I'm not a good mouse mommy and don't clean up after him, I do! Really, I do! I clean his aquarium every other day and in fact, that's what I was going to do last night when I went in there. But the mouse forum folk say not to clean their little houses very often, maybe once a month at most, because it will upset them and they won't feel secure. It hasn't been a month, so I hadn't cleaned his house. Apparently, I don't have to. HE does it. laugh.gif

I never had a mouse before except poor little Mortimer, who was too tiny and lived here too briefly for me to learn mousie ways.

OMG, that is hilarious!! Thats my kind of mouse, cleaning up after himself. Now if we could teach our Fids to do that!!

Mice tend to clean up their beds or nest area. Actually many of the rodent family do this. You will most likely notice that he doesnt do his business in his nest area either and will pick another corner of the enclosure for it.

That is so interesting...thanks....... smile.gif

It STILL surprises me how cleanly rats are. I've never had mice, but they look exactly like teeny rats, so it stands to reason they are full of the same adorable antics.
