I aquired Boggie, a new Quaker (new to me - he is 11) last night and I am having a good time with him; my dogs, on the other hand - not so much. They are already making me crazy! Please tell me that this is normal and they will get used to him. I had a bird before and they got used to him, but he was a Bare-Eyed Cockatoo and could scare them off with his scream! I don't want to have to consider passing Boggie on because, after all, it's not his fault...

Hi!! Welcome to the forum from a fellow Tulsan!!! I'm not sure about the dogs, because all I have are birds. I'm sure they'll get used to the noise, but they should never ever be trusted around your bird unsupervised. Otherwise Quakers never fail to entertain. They are little clowns that can always make you smile! Enjoy your new friend, and we love pictures around here

Welcome!!!
They may get used to him, but do to his smaller size, they may not be intimidated by him. So always makes sure the dogs are in another area of the house when you let your little QP out.

be stern with the dogs, do not let them around the cage, and make them be calm when they start acting up, they will ge tthe pic that hes off limits, BUT keep them apart at all times, accedents happen when your least expecting it. there is no reason to give anyone up, it will just take a watchfull eye from you and some soft disipline for the dogs. im not saying beat em! all i have to do to mine is growl at them and they get the pic and leave stuff alone.
