So I got a baby cinnamon green cheek the other day! biggrin.gif She is only 11 weeks old and she was hand fed by a local breeder. I was so excited when i got her but she seems miserable! ohmy.gif When i went to visit her, her and her brother were climbing and playing all over me and she had so much personality. But now she just sits in her cage on a perch and wont step up out of the cage, she clings to the side. Some nights she even sleeps clinging to the side of the cage not on a perch or anything (I dont think thats normal behavior, atleast ive never heard of a bird doing such a thing) Anyways Im not sure if this is just a stage cause she is in a new enviroment or if she is missing her brother and all the other birds she got to play with and wont come around for awhile. She hasnt touched a toy since she has been here and doesnt seem to interested with me sad.gif

My guess is, she's just freaked out. My budgie spent his first few nights hanging on the side of his cage, but he settled down. Keep talking to her and playing with her as much as she'll let you. Try singing to her and giving her treats and always speak very softly and gently and move slowly and see if she calms down a bit.

Just an update... My little green cheek seems to be a lot happier since i introduced her to my quaker, but she seems a little too attached to him lol. She loves to go preen him but after awhile he will start biting at her feet so she doesnt get to hang with her little buddy much. So all in all its gotten a little better I just hope in the end everything works out smile.gif

I hope she does'nt get to attached to your quaker and not want to bond to you.

I don't know how all that goes, but ask some one on here. smile.gif
I say that because I think I remember a similar problem a while back with someone else having a bonding problem.

Yes unfortunately Im noticing this. She has decided she likes him so much that she will glide to the floor then crawl up into his cage. And as you know he is very territorial about his cage and it makes me worry! I have stopped letting them play together for a little while but it seems to me she might prefer a house with birds she can cuddle and play with sad.gif

This sounds like what happened with my quaker and my blue crown. Initially, I had to watch them closely, because Frost (the quaker) kept biting at Virgil's feet. Virgil (who was starting to bond with his brother before he was weaned) persisted in gliding over to her cage. Frost quickly accepted him and now they spend all of their out-of-cage time together. Frost even allows Virgil in her cage. Frost is still as affectionate to people as ever, but she likes to insert herself between us and Virgil, as if to say "I'm your parrot. He's my parrot." Virgil is not bonding with us as quickly as Frost did, but he is making progress. He will probably always be more Frost's bird than ours, but that's okay. I know that Frost is happier having Virgil around. I can't spend 12 hours a day paying attention to Frost, but he does. They are a hoot to watch.
