I have a blue quaker, nearly one year old, and he originally slept in a nesting box at the breeders and ever since i brought him home I have tried everything with little success; nesting boxes, little tee-pee type beds but he wont get in them.

being an over reacting young bird owner I was wondering if there was anything wrong with him just sleeping on a perch?? wacko.gif

Not at all the choice is up to him but I would still keep a bedroom in the cage for him sometimes my boys sleep in there sleepy ball and sometimes not ..I was told to provide a nest box/ sleepy hut for them as in the wild Quakers usually sleep in a nest .

My boys have a jolly ball its plastic and can be washed easily, or if your cage is too small you can use a big PVC pipe and hang it hig in the cage with access via a perch or a boing....

This is my travel /emergency cage with a PVC pipe sleepyhole...

and here are the boys with their Jollyball ...they each have their own...But play together in one during the day when their cages are open...(size is 10inch)

here is a link to many different tents...

Its not absolutely necessary for them to have a "nesting area" in my opinion. Some birds seem to really like having a happy hut or tent while others never seem to use them. As long as they have a quiet place with a perch higher up in their cage to sleep they do just fine.

Don't stress out over the fact that he isn't using one. Every bird has it's own likes and dislikes so if he doesn't use it, just consider it one less thing to have to clean wink.gif biggrin.gif
