We got Benjy in January and he was around 4 months then, so I've designated today as his birthday. I went to the pet shop and bought new toys all around -- the tradition is, when a bird has a birthday, EVERYONE gets a new toy,
-- and we sang Happy Birthday to him when I got home, though Hubby made a lot of remarks about crazy people who celebrate birds' birthdays. HE sang, TOO, so he's just as crazy as I am. So far, Jade is the only one who has played with her new toy. Unlike most Quakers, Jade loves having a new toy and usually takes it away from me instead of letting me hang it for her. I have to wait until she's checked it out before I can hang it up. Still, Benjy's over there chirping and singing, and he'll get around to the new toy eventually. He can't leave a new toy unchewed for long. For a little bitty budgie, he's a major destructive force.
