We recently discovered that my mother, who has COPD, is allergic to our Petrie. So, after hearing "NO BIRDS!" from four doctors, my bf and I have decided to build an outdoor aviary for him. I've been looking for 16g 1/2" by 1" wire cloth because we're planning on dividing the aviary and using one half for Petrie and the other half for finches and that size wire cloth would work for both. That size, however, is proving difficult to find locally.

1/2" by 1/2" 19g wire cloth is sold everywhere but is it ok to use with QPs? I'm aware of the need to scrub the metal with a vinegar solution before housing the birds in the aviary and I also plan on letting it sit for a couple months to let the elements go to work.

The building will measure 12'x6' with each aviary measuring 6'x4'. It will also have a 100% enclosed shelter for each aviary and a safety patio.

Any advice/suggestions is greatly appreciated.
