Hello All, (Just posted this in wrong place on site, oops),
I am new to this site and also not too savvvy on 'blogging' so forgive my initial clumsiness...
My boyfriend has a green Quaker named Sinbad. I was with him when he purchased Sinbad almost 4 years ago, and he is a 'hoot'.
Sinbad is unusual in that he loves us both, not just the primary care giver, and even tho I work away from home alot, Sinbad never forgets me and is always so excited to see me. He learns most new words from me and I am the only person other than his owner who can touch him. He screams at everyone else and talks over them with his "teacher from Snoopy" voice! LOL
We cannot imagine life without this little bundle of green chaos. He makes us mad one minute and crying with joy the next. He is a great companion for my boyfriend, who never cared for birds before. (Boyfriend almost 50)!
Sinbad rules the house! He will let himself out of his cage, march through the house until he finds us; chase our very large (12lb) cat, and attack him if he gets in his way; same with a visiting dog; hates it when we are on the phone; loves watching animal planet; gets hyper with cartoons; depressed with the news channels; loves going out in the car, on a bike ride and especially loved it when I showed up on a mo-ped once and he and I went up and down the road. He put his wings out and pretended he was flying! :-)
Sinbad is also moody and we believe is sexually frustrated. He does what we call his "pine-cone" where he ruffles his feathers, his pupils go like pin pricks, and he hisses!!! Should we find him a mate, or will he be O.K without a "friend" to relieve his frustrations with? All answers welcome. Boyfrind is worried and concerned! Sinbad is sooooo smart too. He will anticipate a punchline to a joke and bust out laughing just as we get to the punchline! Also, we ask him what a birdie says, and he says "peep-peep"; then we ask him what a kitty says, and he says "meeow-meeow". It's hysterical. We are trying to teach him "woof-woof', but he doesn't do "w's" too good.
We love Sinbad and look forward to chatting with you all and learning about your feathered frinds too.
