I need to find a better litter. I want one that is biodegradable, has good odor control, doesn't track, and clumps well. I started with the clay based ones, but they're always perfumed and not biodegradable. I moved to Feline Pine, but it tracks like CRAZY and it doesn't do a very good job of controlling odor. The boxes are in the basement, and I can smell them upstairs. Finally, the clumps break apart pretty easily. Has anyone found a litter that they're satisfied with?

I too think you're going to have trouble finding a product that meets all of your criteria.

Over the years, I've tried several "biodegradable" cat litters. Unfortunately, odor control was a problem for all of them. In order to keep the odor even mildly under control, I had to change all of the litter on a daily basis for a single cat. In the long run, it became quite costly and I couldn't justify the expense with such poor performance. I now use Fresh Step Scoopable cat litter. It's not biodegradable, but it's naturally clay-based, which is safer than the silica crystals.

Thanks guys! Yeah, I know I'm asking a lot, and I'm guessing that there isn't a product out there that'll handle them all, but one can always hope! I'm more curious about others' experiences with biodegradable litters. I don't like the clay based ones for environmental reasons - they're mined and don't break down. Not to mention, I don't like the perfumes and dust that come with them.

I had heard of "World's Best Cat Litter" and I'll probably give it a try. Has anyone else tried the biodegradable types?

I use Arm and Hammer no-scent.It cost more but it clumps great and it stays in the box.

I'm using Ever Clean, it is a clay based formula but it stays pretty clean for 2 cats. I rarely have to do a full box change. I used to use a wheat based litter and it was terrible both for smell and tracking.
