You can read about Honey, when I first got her, here: Bringing Honey Home

Basically, Bill and I weren't expecting another bird, but because of the situation and how wonderful she is, we felt like we couldn't pass her up.

The problem is how many other pets we have. We keep all of the birds that come out of their cages upstairs. Honey can't be out with them because, even when her wings are clipped, she tries to fly, and could get seriously hurt (she can go across the room without flights). Even if they were in their cages, because of her size, she could land on one of their cages and be injured or killed.

Downstairs the cats have free range. Honey comes out and sits on my shoulder at the computer, but then she flies off. She's almost been caught a few times. We've tried locking the cats in the bedroom for a half hour or so, but she still flies off and lands on the little birds cages (the downstairs is has doorways, but no doors that close, its very open). I don't think she could be killed from this, but she could be hurt before we can reach her.

The result of this is that we have beautiful, friendly, lovely little bird who wants to hang out with people and doesn't get to. I've thought of putting her in with my flight budgies, and may do so if a great home doesn't come up, but I think she would be happiest in a home where she gets attention.

There isn't an adoption fee. I want Honey to have a fabulous home. That said, I will be picky and ask questions and truly try to find her the right situation.

Honey needs a home where she can come out in a location where if she flies off, there is no (well, as little as possible) danger that she will hurt herself. I don't know if that means a home with few other pets, or a computer or family room with a door that be closed when she comes out. I need someone who will play with her daily. She is spunky, but loves people. She took about a week to warm up to us.

We love her. We want to keep her. But we've tried our darnedest to find an arrangement that is safe and happy for her and it just doesn't work because of our other animal commitments.

She's relatively clean for a bird, plays amazingly, and comes with her toys, cage, and stand.

Thanks in advance for your help!

I PMed Beckie but haven't heard back yet.

We're still looking for a home for Honey. She's even starting to talk, the little darling wub.gif Bill and I keep trying of ways to keep her, but I really think she'll make the perfect addition to the right home. Here she is, unfortunately, lost in the flock here. She is deserves to the star of a flock.

Keep her in your thoughts.

I'm very interested, but I'm all the way in Canada, so I don't think it will work!
