hello everyone.

just found the site. i see lots of good info on here!

Ive always wanted a parrot, and after having my cockatiel for a while that was a rescue bird, Problem with him is even after he has bonded to us and ive taught him to step up on arm, he will never allow any fingers near him and if one touches him it will get bitten. i can blame him though.

i decided the get me and the fiance a Quaker last week. She named him Cuddles cause one of its favorite things to do is listen to your heartbeat and nuzzle and take the occasional nap. The woman at the bird store said Cuddles was 4-5 months old.

he is adjusting fine. we are working on step ups.

one question. is there any tips to get him to eat fruits and vegies? He is on a mixutre of mostly pellets and seed. We have tried fresh and dried fruits and vegies and he wont touch it.

Welcome to the forum.... There are some great ppl here and some aswome advice...
what i did was go get a small container of baby formula for birds and sprinkle a small amount on on the vegi's.
OR you can go get some Millet and and sprinkle it on the vegi's... that works great too...

The main thing is not to give up some time it takes a while for them to GET IT ...Most fids (feathered kids) will want what you have so if you chop up a plate of yummie fruit and eat it then just offer a bit to your fid and make a big fuss on YUMMIE ohhhhhhhhhhhhh this is good ..My guys share my porridge at breakie time ..Offer fruit only qa couple of times aweek (lots of sugars (natural) and makes for wet poops too) choipped up fresh veggies are good ..too won`t go on cause this will all be in the Diet forum
