Ok so Gabby has decided that she dislikes our 3 year old -- (not surprising) Our 3 year old is noisy, whiney, and just plain out being an annoying 3 year old little girl! So Gabby has this new thing that she likes to chase our 3 year old through the house (which I discourage for Gabby's safety) . Our 3 year old screams in terror for a good reason because Gabby wants to bite her again. SO When I catch up to Gabby to pick her up she laughs hysterically-- so of course then I laugh (as I am doing now) .. Gabby even says ooooowwwww MOMMY!! and then laughs hysterically. She has found the biggest thrill out of attacking Marissa. I know it isn;t that funny to our Marissa but I am fascinated about how smart these birds are.

If Gabby is in her cage with the door closed, she will do everything in her power to attack Marissa, she is sooo loud-- that is the only time Gabby gets that upset. Do any of your quakers just seem to have it out for a certain person? I can do anything to Gabby and she still loves me. She loves everyone else in our family just hates Marissa : (

It is so silly that Gabby laughs like that when she is going after her--- it is funny but sort of annoying at the same time. Marissa is pretty terrified of Gabby now and obviously she yells OOOWWWW MOMMY!! if Gabby does happen to get her.

Is there some way to get Gabby to like her? Is there someway to discourage her from hating Marissa?

You know, they're fickle little chickens, and next week or next month, Marissa might well be her very favorite person in the world. Three is kind of young for this, but have you tried having Marissa give her a favorite treat? If ONLY Marissa gives her a favorite treat, she might start associating Marissa with the treats and decide she's not so bad after all. Of course, Marissa might be reluctant to cooperate. Understandably. If you can talk her into trying, it might work. I know Jade likes me lots largely because I'm The Giver of Pumpkin Seeds. laugh.gif

What I'm reading here is that Gabby feels like Marissa is competition and she may feel threatened by her presence..I've known it to happen before with someone's bird...

Another thing you may want to try, is the rescue thing...that is if Marissa isn't afraid to pick Gabby up....I guess you have heard of the rescue technique.....

And do be very careful about having Gabby out and on the floor, just a couple of months ago, this member's little girl accidently stepped on their birdie and crushed it...(just a word of caution)...their little bones are so fragile...

I do hope everything turns out well for all.... smile.gif

Hehe thats must be amusing to watch. My bird doesn't like kids under the age of 5 and over that he just tolerants them maybe wait till she's more calmer and a bit older .

I really try to not let her on the floor but we had her wings clipped this summer because of the patio door and the vet clipped them a bit too short so she has been sort of enjoying going on the floor. But yes I do discourage this. She is impossible to make her stay on her perch- which would be lovely but she is sooooo active. I am going to try the rescue technique and the treats. I am going to wait till Gabby is good and hungry and then try to have Marissa give her a treat. She tried to give her a walnut the other day and Gabby bit Marissa's hand instead of taking the walnut--ugh.

I think it is because Marissa is so loud and jumpy that Gabby is irritated with her. I hope that when Marissa is older she will not be so aggressive towards her.

My husband is actually Gabby's favorite person but he doesn't even pay attention to her but once in a while. She loves him-- go figure.
