Bebe'sMom
I have had Bebe for almost 2 years and in the last month or two she has been getting more aggressive. If my best friend comes over Bebe is screaming and out of her cage before Valerie can get through the door of my apartment. She runs across the floor of the living room, under the couch and into the kitchen to attack and bite my best friend's feet. She is only quiet and happy if I hold her the whole time, which don't do since I think it's rewarding the behavior. She isn't a big fan of girls, but she only is this aggress toward Val. They use to be fine before I moved last January. I can't figure out what changed. Also red nail polish and duck calls will drive her nuts and cause her to even attack me. Help!

Many fids don't like the nail polish thing laugh.gif As for the sudden aggression, I don't know ... could be hormones, could be Bebe is just becoming extra possessive right now, sometimes they just get their feathers in a ruffle and let everyone around them know it dry.gif as for the not holding her when your friend is over, I think that is a correct way to deal with her behavior - holding her will seem like rewarding the behavior and could make it worse when someone is in the house - putting her in her cage to cut down on the attacks and also to let her know she can't interact with her family can have an effect of cutting down on the aggression ... is Bebe flighted? A wing trim can also set them back on their feathers when they HAVE to depend on you for transport.

She could be having hormones and the attack on your friend is her being protective of you, because you're her family. Has your friend changed her hairdo or perfume or anything? Quakers object to changes. Moving may have made her feel less secure, too. She'll adjust, but it could take a while.

I think we've all learned that we have to bow to our Quakers' quirks -- you might have to give up nail polish, for example. laugh.gif We can't wear red shirts -- I wear mine to work and change when I get home. I can't wear jewelry at home anymore. Or clothes with decorations like embroidery or sparkly bits. Anything like that can upset a Quaker and make them bite you and I don't think it's an attack; I think what they're doing is trying to remove the offending thing because they see it as a blemish or a bug and it's their job to keep your personal hygiene nice and spiffy. tongue.gif
