I was looking at my little guy this morning and the skin around one of his eyes is pink and the other eye is white. What should I do? The nearest vet is almost 70 miles away.

I tried to get a pic. but my camera really sucks so it's all blurred. It looks like both eyes are some what pink but one side looks like there either more skin or puffed up a bit. Is the pinkish skin around the eye normal? I thought it used to be white but then I thought it's ok b/c it could be veins going through the skin giving it that color.

I am assuming this is a Quaker you are referring to - right?
Did he eat something red lately? Does he have a toy that is red that he could have rubbed against? Does his eye actually look swollen or inflamed, or just red?

Yes he's is a Quaker. He eats Zupreem Fruit Blend so there are some red pellets but he doesn't touch them to much? He does have a red toy also that he tore apart today, but the red color seems to fade then come back throughout the day. If you look at him head on the skin on one side does protrude farther than the other, but both sides are pink. I tried to take another picture, and this time it wasn't blurred, but the pink is not detectable in the picture.

I am not a vet, but if you think his eye is pink and inflamed, and it is not just discolored from something he ate or played with, I think you should definitely take him to the vet. Please keep us posted!

I think I'm going to take him to the breeder tomorrow to have him looked at, and then make the LONG journey to the vet on Wednesday if they think I should get it looked at. Since I have school until 7:30 on Tuesday. I hope he's alright until then.

Well we went to the vet today and she said that it was just a reaction to something in the air (dust, pollen...)She wasn't very sure but she said that his nasal passage was clear and his lungs sound good and are also clear. Then she sent us home with some eye drops twice a day, some antihistamine (not sure if that's spelled right) for the water, and a $155 bill.

She also ran his stool. It's was kind of funny. I filled out the paper work since this was our first trip ever to the vet. She then took us into a room, took some stool and went and tested it, then came back and told us that the office visit is $59 the Gram staining of the stool was $41 plus what ever the vet had to do on top of that. It's a good thing I had my check book.
Got to love these little guys!!

I am so glad to hear it is nothing serious. Yes, that is pretty cheap for what your fiddo had done. My vet is cheap too. Last time I was in, Joey got a full work-up, gram stain, a mix of 3 probiotics and some other med to kill off bad bacteria (supply for a month) and the bill was only $91. Not to mention, we took an hour of the good docs time. lol I cringe when I hear what some people pay their vets.
