Hi, I'm Sandee - just got my baby Quaker on Friday. No name, but I'm temporarily calling her/him "Zippy". I've been a bird person since I was 4 years old, but the Quaker is the biggest bird I've ever owned (or owned me).
Looking forward to figuring it all out!

Hi, Welcome.

Thanks all for the welcomes; sorry I didn't figure out how to get back here until tonight! Finally decided on Gordon as his name. We've been getting to know each other.

Actually, Gordon is learning how to handle me. He has a light above his cage, for heat. I goes on by timer each morning, which is Gordy's signal to screech for me to start working. I uncover his cage, and (if I'm not going anywhere), open the door. Then he starts a busy day supervising me. He sits on top of his cage, where he receives his snacks (loves oranges, corn and brown rice) as well as regular meals (Roudybush Mini).
I have explained to him that humans in my household use a toilet, in another room, but he still complains when I leave him for natures calls.

From what I've been reading, Gordon needs more toys. He enjoys tearing up a roll of colored papers I weave between his cage bars. I got him a cozy hut tunnel thingy; he sleeps leaning against it. He also has a ritual when I place him back in his cage where he goes to the back corner, zips through the tunnel, peaks out for a second, then comes all the way out to inspect the rest of his realm.
