Cosmo has decided he thinks its funny to see his daddy re fill his food bowl time after time after time! Everyday he flips over his food bowl and I dont know of a good way to secure it in its ring. Anyone else have this problem? What would be a good bird safe material to keep it in place? Also might add its with all kinda of food from his pellets to his nuts/fruits and even the seeds he gets once a week!
Thanks!

Good luck with this. Murphy did this to me for an entire year, what a mess. He would eat his food first though before he dumped it.
Tried everything. If the dish is in a ring, maybe try putting binder clips on the bowl and ring. However, due to their intelligence, Murphy figured out how to unclip the binder clip and still dump his bowl.
He eventually stopped. I didn't give him new food after he dumped the dish, just took the dish out and didn't feed him any more for the rest of the day. Good luck

I would drill a hole into the food dish near the top and use washers and a butterfly bolt to secure it so it won't wiggle between the bars of the cage. That will stop the flipping. Just pray he doesn't learn to just toss it all out piece by piece. I have little darlings who think that is GREAT fun!

Good luck!

About twice a month my bird does the same he grabs his dish and shakes it and throws it on the floor its a stainless steel dish its surely it pretty heavy lol. Anyway that only happens when its either in his way or in the wrong spot lol

I got a ceramic bowl that fits into a stainless steel holder. It's too heavy for Frost to tip. Bwahahahaha

My Kiwi used to do the same thing except it was with his water! Talk about messy! I asked the people who work at the pet store near me and they suggested a heavy plastic bowl that bolts onto the cage bars. Almost any pet store that carries bird supplies should have them. It worked like a charm! No more tipping! And the best part is that the bolt is outside of the cage so there's no chance of him getting it off!

My IRN did that, flipped her food bowl .... sooooooooo I bought one of those small ceramic cat bowls, too heavy to flip, she can't grab hold of it, large bottom (actually it's shaped like a heart with a paw print in the bottom of it) so no more flipping. She can unload it one piece at a time, or sweep the food out of it, but she doesnt do that. But I don't refill it if she DOES empty it, she can eat off the floor until the next day if she gets hungry mad.gif but she's never had to do that since I got her the cat dish. Heck, she's smart, but she cant read so she doesnt KNOWS it's a cat dish!! LOLOLOL

I like the ceramic bowls too but they always poop in them so now I have switched to the covered ones that clip or fasten on.

I will have to try a ceramic bowl. It seems almost as if he would RATHER eat off the ground cause as soon as he flips it he runs down and starts a munchin.
