Hi there, My name is Belinda and my husband is Andy, we are the proud 'parronts' of the cutest little quaker in the world (not that i am biased or anything tongue.gif ) at present we call him Luigi (Wiji for short) as they told us they thought it was a boy, we going to find out for sure on wednesday 7th October 2009, his DNA is out there right now being tested..cross your fingers for us please, he already says good boy, I cant imagine having to train him to say girl instead of boy. We have had him since Jan 01 2009. I love him to bits and have been on this site many times when the odd thing worries me, and have been put at lease by the answers I find, so I thought it was about time I joined and tried to help others who need a bit of reassurance with their crazy little feathered friends wink.gif . I look forward to getting to know some of you other 'Parronts' out there.

Hi Belinda and a big Welcome to the forum!
My husbands from Scotland and its so the land
of loviness!

I loved your Youtube page! If that isnt the
sweetest page all those tricks he does! You
built the basketball arena? Really nice. How
did you teach him to go round in a circle?
At any rate he is just a doll!

Its nice to meet you on here laugh.gif

Your finger signals are VERY subtle... wow! I may have to shamelessly ask you about a million questions when I get my adoption goes through and I get to bring home my little nekkid chicken. I plan on using trick training as part of her routine to discourage feather plucking.

Welcome!!! laugh.gif

He is so smart and cute! Your videos of Luigi make me want to work on training my birds. I think you did a great job teaching him. Looking forward to more videos and some tips.

thank you so much for that lovely coment, it is very easy to teach him to go in a circle, get a little piece of his fav food and and move around him in a large cirlce saying turn around as you do it, then get awfully excited and silly when he does it and obviously give him his treat, again and agian and again until eventually all you will have to do is a little flick of the wrist to one side of him, still saying the words turn around (or what ever words you want for the command) and eventually he will learn the command and you wont even have to use your hand any more, always always always give a treat after he does it and act very happy and silly and pleased with him/her, they love that and will do the trick just to see you act like an idiot... haha PS if you are married you may want the partner to leave the room when all this silliness is going on or he may want to divorce you afterwawrds, I really do go overboard with all the silliness, but Wiji loves it and that makes him do more of the thing i want him to do just so he can see me make an idiot of myself (Oh by the way he has learned to laugh like me and does it often when i am being silly... I may end up with a complex one day) Giggle My trick is being overly excitable and i do mean overly..;.

Wow thank you all for your lovely coments, I never thought anything of it, i thought this is what they all do, I didnt realise he was doing anything special, I know I have only had him 10 months and he leearned his tricks in about the 1st 3 months of having him, but i thought this was normal. I just thought they were all way to smart for their own good... but if there is anything you want to ask i would be happy to answer your questions and if i can be of any help I would love to be. I think my trick must be that i act really silly when he does something good and smart, and i do mean really silly for a good 10-15 seconds after the event, by silly I mean jumping up and down saying in an excited and loud but not too loud voice good boy you are so clever and jumping around in cirlces and clapping my hands together telling him how intellegent he is and praising him, I think maybe it makes him want to do it just to see my reaction... OK stop laughing and pick yourself up off the floor.... Maybe I am wrong, but i really do think this is what makes him tick.... and if he starts to do something clever for the start of a new trick, i will get all giggly and give him a big kiss saying whos a clever boy then etc.... yes i know i am totally mad, but hey he seems to love it so I will stick with it. anything i can say or do to try and help please ask and i will do my best (please dont ask me to video my training session with him, as my over excitability may get me thrown into a mental institution and trust me there will be no release date for me... YES IT IS THAT BAD... hahahaha But Wiji likes it and I will stick with what works for me...smile.gif
