Hi and Thanks to all that tried to help,
I am up late but she has been in bed for a while. I thought I would let you know tonight was even better then the 2 past nights. Cyna was with me for a bit over then an hour and actually begged for her head to be rubbed. She even groomed me......NO bleeding for me!!! no hostile behavior at all
Thanks for all the support! I only want the best for my girl and being new to this bird world everyones' thoughts gave me the confidence to keep trying and be patient. biggrin.gif This forum has been the difference of feeling I was emotionally hurting Cyna and feeling I have enough knowledge to keep us healthy and happy. I am always reading posts and learning from them.
I took her to a vet for a well check. I highly recommend it for new bird owners. The vet gave me a ton of information and got to know Cyna (1 1/2 hr visit). The vet said she is perfect biggrin.gif
Will we always have these time periods of spite or is this pre-puberity behavior? I love when she is sweet and feel I am doing something wrong when she is fiesty? I believe I will have her as part of the family for at least 20yrs What should I expect as far as biteing goes?

I do hope you'll enjoy twenty or more years of bite-free living with your little fid (feathered kid), but don't be too hurt (emotionally) if she gets to feeling nippy again one day. Birds can have testy times, and since they come by chomping quite naturally, that's often the way they'll choose to let you know they aren't in the best of moods/need to ensure your finger will be a steady perch/just need a big fat strawberry/etc.

Keep your confidence up that you'll be a great parront and stay focused on how sweetly she's behaving today. Remember how much you love her when she hits a rough patch in the future. And come right on back here to the forum anytime you need a little reassurance. The folks here are great and wonderfully knowldgable about the experience of parronting.

Yep , never take bit`s personally ..they do happen (a bit like having PMT at times) especially during a molt (getting new feathers)..
Birds are pretty close to being wild critters unlike domesticate cats and dogs they retain a lot of their wild instincts, get to know your bird whats normal whats not eating habits /poop etc as birds will hide their illness`s as in the wild they are shunned from the flock when weak or sick as they draw preditors (sad but true) so if your bird is ill by the time you notice it they are usually VERY ILL.. so get to know your birds mannerisms and watch for pop changes (this can change with diet too so don`t get panicy if they have had a loyt of fruit they will get watery poop or if they eat beetroot or some coloured foods they might get red poop but changes like this should clear up once the food offending is removed)

Good luck with your little one and I am glad her vet check up went well...

This is wonderful. Cyna has learned to trust!! Those moments are so rewarding.
