Hi everybody!!! Okay, you all know by now that Zach and I are getting a Keeshond puppy in December. We're REALLY excited, and don't know if we're getting a boy or girl.

If we get a girl, her name will be "Freya". Here's the "problem": If we get a boy, we have no clue what to name him. Help!

Some stats: Her sire's name is Rhett, and her dam's name is Tara. LOL Anyone like "Gone With the Wind"?? I know I do (I haven't read the book yet, but I've seen the movie MANY times! smile.gif Keeshonden are originally from Holland, however, today's breeding stock is mostly from Germany and Great Britain. The breed standard says they MUST have distinct "spectacles" around their eyes, it's a feature the breed is known for. Um.......what else...........I don't know. So I'll just post a pic and be done with it. smile.gif

Here's one with VERY pronounced spectacles:

Name That Dog! smile.gif

Lovely breed, I do love the eyes. How about Fritz, Deter or Hauns? Good luck I am sure the right name will"pop" into your head.

*Cracking up* That is soooooo funny you said that! Yesterday, I was talking about this with another friend and she suggested the name "Fritz" too, which is absolutely hilarious, because that's my dad's best friend's name! smile.gif Too funny! And it's a super cute name! We'll have to see.........
jobo2mi
"Gone With the Wind" huh? How about Frankly (as in Frankly my dear I don't give a d@m!!)
msdani1981
ROFL That's actually my favorite line in the movie! That, and "I'll think about that tomorrow!"

One member (I'll edit with your name!) LOL *Cacophony* suggested these names:
As for boys names along the lines of Freya...

Gunnar (means "warrior") **I like it!!**
Tyr (norse version of Zeus)

Or just puppy names:
Havok
Zorro (in the MASK... get it! Bwahahahaha)
Todd (little fox - would work if he's a looker)

You'll think of something!

If you want to stick with the Gone With the Wind theme, Ashley (Wilkes), Wade (Scarlett's son), (General) Lee, Butler (for Rhett), Gettysburg (you could call him Getty for short), Abe (Lincoln) ...
Quincy's Slave
I like Butler if you want to keep with the Gone with the Wind theme. Although you might get some funny looks at the dog park calling for your Butler !! laugh.gif
msdani1981
LOL You guys are a hoot!!!! smile.gif "Calling your Butler" smile.gif And it would be really funny calling him "Butt" for short....smile.gif

I like the names bruno and bandit

Personally I stay away from people names. My parents named their 1st two dog people names only to have those names move next store.
I now name my pets out of the Harry Potter books. Not likely run into any Hedwigs or Tonks or Dobby's
So my advice find a book or a movie that you like. Pull from that a name place or thing that sound good to you.
Or maybe you can do like my parents and name their dogs after food. Taffy, Brownie

Yeah, we're kind of against people names, ourselves...smile.gif Except for Arnie, who is no longer with us. His full name was Arnold Schwarzabirdy Harris....smile.gif And our canary is Conan the Canarian. smile.gif

Oh, and we didn't name Sammy.....smile.gif

Cacophony
CONAN the CANARIAN?!? OMG I think I just hurt myself! I'M CRYING HERE, Dani... I'm laughing that hard!!!

Coming from an animal groomer... Bear is used by 3/4 of the fluffy population. I think I groom 40 odd of them. Of various breeds. VERY POPULAR. If you don't like using popular names you might want to shy away from that one.

You could also look at the Sound of Music for name choices!

I like ROLF! (Also the name of the piano playing dog on Muppets... laugh.gif )
Glowbird
I love Frankly and Butler. Butler can always be shortened to Butt when he's being bad.

LOL You guys keep coming up with stuff that makes me laugh, I love it!

VERY good point about "Bear"!!! smile.gif
Siobhan
I always give my babies people names. And here I am with George, and I know not one, but TWO men named George. LOL I didn't know them when I named him, but they just have to deal with it. The Harry Potter movie names is a good idea, or maybe Lord of the Rings. Those really are names you're not likely to run into very often, except Harry, I guess. That's not that unusual, but it would be funny to name a fuzzy dog Harry (or Hairy, laugh.gif ). If you name him Bear and take him to the dog park and holler "Bear," it's true that half the dogs there will come a-runnin'. Maybe you could name him after a bear without calling him Bear. Smokey? Yogi? Boo-Boo? Ben? Fozzie? Grizzly? laugh.gif What did Grizzly Adams call his bear? I can't remember. Does anyone but me even remember Grizzly Adams? blink.gif

heheheheh when my son was born we put a little brown teddy bear in the hospital bassinet with him.

I wrote a poem when I brought my son home from the hospital, and in it made reference to his little friend Theodore Edward Bear <grin>..

Yep.. Ted E. Bear laugh.gif

awww and how cool would that be Dani <evil grin>.. tongue.gif wink.gif laugh.gif

I think you'll have a name for him / her when you get to see and hold the puppy wub.gif

Bandit is something I'd pick though lol... or BooBear.. what can I say.. I'm pathetic with names. Look what my boys got stuck with <giggle>. Although yogi really is a Yogi-Bird kinda guy and Frankie's name hit me when I looked at him at the breeders. And it fits him to a Tee when he glides to the floor and slides across the floor a la Sinatra.. doing it his way bwahahahahahaahah laugh.gif
