I still don't know if racal is plucking his feathers he is losing a lot of feather and they look like baby feathers but he has no bare spots on his body he has a lot of pin feathers still and a lot what I call down not really feathers just linty looking flyaway things it seems like he has excess feathers on his head.and he seems unusually obssesed with his where his wings are clipped it was a bad job done by the man i bought him from he does over preening in my opinion but then maybe he's just uber vain I don't know I think he's just in love with himself i do tell him he's beautiful and my daughter calls him ugly lol she doesn't mean it but he seems intent on keeping her guessing he wants to go to her and then he bites her i don't know what the problem is she takes him out and sits with him on the patio in his cage and he will lift his cage door he never does that with me she will bring him explaining why she is bringing him and he will laugh

I have no idea but I'm sure someone will.

I read somewhere (probably here) that the first molt is around 4 months old. My birds are about that right now and there are little fluffy down and small green ones all over the floor everyday for about the last couple weeks. They have not lost the big feathers yet. I am waiting to start finding the bigger green feathers laying around and feel pin feathers on them. Then I'll know the molt is about over. I was also a little worried that one of them is over grooming the other one...but if you sit and watch you can see if he is plucking when he grooms.

aww sounds like he's molting Tami. Yogi's cage is one big feather bed these days laugh.gif
I don't about the weather you had this summer but it rained non-stop forever here, and he seemed to molt later than normal.. so it's almost like he had to molt really fast.

He sounds like quite the little character though awwwwww.. always keep us guessing they do smile.gif

Also, I heard (probably here) that if the wing clip is done wrong it will irritate them. Maybe you can take him to have it done properly. Or do it yourself if you have the right scissors (I got mine for about 5 dollars) and are very careful not to cut too close.

Here is some information on wing cutting-
