I have had Sammy for about 2 1/2 months now and I love him dearly. When I brought him home he was on pellets. Every morning I gave him a few seeds with his pellets maybe about 3 - I have a parrot mix and fruit cockatail mix and I switch it up every day. He of course always goes for the seed first and then he would go for the pellets. I can't tell if he's eating his pellets anymore. We offer him whatever we cook and he always loves that. I make him fresh veggies a few nights a week as well. I got free samples from a lot of the companies and he seems to be playing with them. I see him put them in his mouth and then drop them. I am getting worried since I am not offering him much seed. Can you please give me some advice....thanks!!! The second thing that is worrying my, yesterday was the longest we ever left him. We went out at 10 in the morning, we stopped in to check on him at around 2 and then we went back out and came home around 9pm. He usually prefers to eat on his play top but has always eaten in his cage as well. Yesterday when we got home he hadn't touched any of the food inside of his cage. I woke him up and made sure he ate something last night. I know he had some millet yesterday because the evidence was at the bottom of the cage but nothing from his food bowl. I don't know if maybe he was mad at us and doing it on spite or if he just didnt touch it because he doesn't want pellets anymore. I am stopping home during lunch today to see how he's doing with his food. Please help me shed some light and give me some advice.

I would offer him a veggie and grain mix every morning, before he gets anything else. Make a big batch with a bunch of well-chopped steamed veggies (peas, corn, carrots, sweet potato, kale, peppers, etc.) and add brown rice, quinoa, amaranth, or whatever healty cooked grain you have, you can also add cooked lentils or other beans, then freeze it in small containers and take out whatever you need the night before. I always cut up a fresh hot pepper and put it on top, because my guys love hot peppers above all else. Always give the healthy stuff before you offer any treats. Good luck!

Thanks, that's a great idea. I am going to go to the food store tonight to pick everything up. Do you happen to have a recipe so that I can buy all the correct ingredients and get cooking? I want my little guy to be healthy!!

Should I cook everything together and then freeze in small zip locks?

I made a big batch last night with lots of veggies, beans (soaked overnight), quinoa and brown rice and he loved it. Thank you so much for the idea.
