Can Quakers escape from or unlock their cage from the inside? I have been told that parrots can do this, can Quakers do the same?

Linn.

Yes Yes Yes. I know many that can do. Depends on the bird and the lock. Why do you ask?

I was thinking of adding an extra lock on the cage just incase.
Casey's Mom
I think it depends what kind of cage you have. smile.gif If the doors are easily slideable (is that a word? lol) or if the lock is really easy to lift open then there is a possibility of him escaping. I know the lock on Casey's cage is really tricky and requires a little strength to open so there is no way she could open it up biggrin.gif

Yep!
Mine does it all the time. The cage hes in has sliding hooks that go up and down for food and water dishes that used to be in there. Now i dont use them so they are just there to keep the slots closed. i will go to school and come home and i will find him out of his cage on the top. sometimes the slides will be on the bottom of his cage or on the floor in my room XD
its really funny because one time i set up a camera to see how he got out so thats how i found out how he did it. it was pretty funny seeing him slide off the latch and pop the door open!

Quakers especially - because of their extreme next building and architectual expertise in the wild - are known to be little mechanical geniuses. ESPECIALLY if they can get a good angle and watch you open the cage once or twice. LOL I had several people recommend these food locks, the gentleman I dealt with was absolutely AMAZING and I'd recommend them to anyone who has either a two year old that likes to open the food doors like I do, or a bird that likes to use them as a fox hole.

Yes...another good reason to keep toilet lids down or the bathroom door closed. If one ever flies into a bathroom and lands in the toilet, it's too slick for them to get out. I've known only one person who came home and found hers drowned, but that was enough for me.
Sandi Kiwis Mom
When Kiwi was about 3 yrs old he thought he was tricking me.....I knew I put him away before I went to work or to bed, but when I got home or got up in the morning he was out of his cage ohmy.gif I thought I was losing my mind huh.gif So I actually had to start writing down when I closed and locked his cage mellow.gif that little booger was unlocking his cage and letting himself out. So I got a plastic hook and locked the front of his cage. It didn't happen anymore...... rolleyes.gif

Toby not only can but does. Every morning when I go into his room to get him he is sitting on top of the cage and greets me with a "hello kiddo." Fortunately, there is nothing he can get into in his room and he stays on the cage.
