I fell off a horse on Sunday afternoon and broke my knee!! Had surgery on Monday evening (not soon enough - the pian was incredible) and have been showing PT and OT that I can move around with a walker and a wheelchair. Now they'll finally let me out of the hospital. Heart acted up earlier today so that slowed me down some, but now they are finally getting sick of me! So I'll be online a bit later from my daughters. The hospital gave me a couple choices .... have someone in with me for the next week or so (I live in a small house and have no room) .... go to a local nursing home/rehab center ....NOT!!! Or go home to my daughter's. she took care of me when I had my car accident 10 yrs ago so she'll do well this time too....this time I'm not hurt near as bad as then.

Still hurts like a ****** but at least I can do SOME stuff for my self ...

Nooo! I'm so sorry to hear this. Well, I'm glad you get to go home, but it stinks that you broke the knee! Isn't it a shame that as we get older we don't bounce as well as we used to?
Here's wishing you a swift and as painless as possible recovery.

Oh, no!! That's horrible! Stupid horse, we'll blame it on the horse.... I hope you recover quickly, and I'm thinking of you.

Ouch, I cringed when I read that, I can't begin to imagine how painful that must be. I hope you have a speedy recovery.

Not home home yet, but at least out of hospital...im at my daughters' for a little while....she'll take good care of me while i get on my feet again. But it sure feels good to be out of hospital. Now if the surgery would just heal quick....

Danged horse anyway, They don't come with side rails like hospital beds do to keep you from falling off... Maybe you should stick to ponies or better yet scooters from now on.

Hope you are up and around soon. But don't be a super hero and try things too fast. Our old bones take longer to knit than they used to. Thank heavens for good drugs!

Thanks yall for the good wishes. My neighbor is taking care of my fids for me while I'm at my daughters. She'll take care of me good....she did when I had my csr accident 10 yrs ago.

Wasnt anyone's fault about the fall. Bev tried to tighten the cinch twice, I tightened it twice, and Mirror still must have puffed up her gut a little so the saddle was loose. When it went, I went. If I hadn't landed wrong on my knee, I would have been fine, I didn't fall far and didnt bang up any other part of me....I'd have probably gotten up and spanked Mirror for trying to buck me off...yes she did, but I stuck right with her thru that. It was the walking her afterwards that the saddle slipped. If I could have gotten my feet loose from the stirrups quicker, i'd have jumped off her rather than ride the saddle sideways

I now have matching knee RR tracks. Wrecked both kneees. Doc fixed my right one 10 yrs ago and I've been fortunate enough to use it. Hopefully this orthopedic surgeon is as good and in a few weeks this knee will be up and walking (I don't think I'll ever try to run again!)

Everyone thought it would be the scooter tht put me out of commission, nope! Riding a horse on a nice Sunday afternoon did it Ya just never know, do ya?

I'll be off my feet for at least two weeks, right now feels like I'll never get back up, it hurts too dang much and is too much work! but I'll be ok....just give me a few weeks..........no more scooter this year

Hope you get well soon, I hate hospitals and I am a nurse! Way to many nasty germs. Do everything the PT thells you and once they are gone you can cuss them all you want.

LOL Like I said, stupid horse!! My pony used to puff out when I went to tighten the cinch, too. I always had to check it before I mounted and again once I got on....she was a smart one! Anyway, I hope you feel better soon!
