I know this is a strange question, but what are quaker droppings supposed to look like? Petri's been having runny droppings of a lighter green color, and I want to know if that's normal. I know that it's supposed to be coiled and not runny, but what about the green color??? No diet changes as of late, so I've ruled that out.

It depends on what they've been eating. Mine have red-pellet-days, and then their poo is red. If they've been eating wet stuff like celery or tomatoes, it's runny and almost like pee instead of poo. What I think of as "average" poo is generally a very dark forest green, with white around the outside, and I don't know if I'd call it coiled. It's more like a plop. laugh.gif As if you (sorry to the squeamish) squeezed out just a dollop of whipped cream from the Redi-Whip can.

Usually a normal colour change is diet related. Does he have multi-coloured pellets? Casey goes through phases and will only eat certain pellets, right now she is on a green streak and therefore has green poop, before she was always eating the red ones and her poop was always a reddish shade. When it's more watery it's usually due to the water content of food (like eating a lot of fruit) or if they've just had a bath or if they aren't eating enough it's very watery with little poop. Normal poop is usually firm without a lot of liquid...

If you really think it's not diet related and nothing food-wise has changed, I'd give it a few days to go back to normal before getting concerned.. if you want you can use paper towel instead of newspaper to see if it's going back to normal (you can see more liquid, colour etc. with the paper towel)

This is a great thread for me because I have a new Quaker, a rescue...Zoe. Her droppings are red, but so are her pellets so I wasn't worried about that. It is a bit watery. If it falls it splats, but if she is close it is nearly like the ready whip thing you describe. I wasn't sure a point if reference since I haven't had a Quaker before. She poops bigger than the budgies we have...but less often. LOL
