Well three weeks ago, my cousin called me and asked me to find her a quaker well I looked and looked couldn't find one, so my husband asked me well why couldn't we send Elvis that way and see how he does one on one with her, we had been haveing trouble with him biteing EVERYBODY and Stan ( my husband) was the only one he would go too. So like an idiot I sent Elvis over there,( I didn't have majj to remove him off my signature) well i had a gut feeling she couldn't handle him, but against my better judgement I sent him. Well I got a call tonight from her son tellilng me that he is trying to talk his momma into sending him back here, he had caught her so called husband being sorta mean to Elvis.. I FEEL REALLY ROTTEN because I put that poor baby back into a situation that was bad!! Well I told her son to do what ever he could to get her to send him back... If any one can get her to do it he can..
I keep telling myself that he will forgive me when he gets back home, I SHOULD HAVE NEVER SENT HIM THERE....
I also found out that she never put him into a bigger cage once he got to her house, and she promised me that she had a bigger cage so this lil fella has been in a VERY SMALL TRAVEL CAGE for the last three friggin weeks.I don't know who to be mad at here, myself for letting him go to her, or HER for not doing what she said she would. And i already made a promise to him once he gets home he will never leave me or the family ever again... HE and I will grow old gracefully together....
I am so upset over this i can barely type as it is, and I have been steadily crying ever since he called me tonight..
I just want him home no matter what so I know he will be happy....
I just really feel like badddddd parront...
I'm sorry Elvis.....

cindy your not bad you wanted to help a person that thought they wanted a companion elvis knows you love him there is a bond that never leaves you may be punished but he will still love you
cdennis77521
oh I hope soo.. We are going to my mom's house this weekend and my mom lives with my cousins mom( my aunt) and I am soooo hopeing when i get there i see that lil green baby.... I am praying that her son can talk her into giving him back! My cousin used to be real good with any kind of animal whether it be feathered or fur, and personaly I think Elvis is just good and mad because he isn't here for one and he is having to live in a small cage.. But honestly I think he is just good and mad, and I hoping and praying that when he does get home he won't hold it against me too much, I HUGE CAGE waiting on him to come home to loaded with toys and food....
jaytee
Sounds like Elvis needs to be rescued ASAP. When he gets home, yes, he will probably attempt to punish you. Don't put up with it though. This little mis-adventure, may help in anti-biting training. Don't be so hard on yourself! Just go save the little guy.
cdennis77521
I am headed up there Saturday to see what I can do... Like I said her son is trying to talk to his mom about just going ahead and sending him back.
So I am keeping my fingers crossed, and my toes and whatever else I can cross...LOL....
QTQP4me
i'll cross everything i can for you too. you made what you thought was a good decision, based on faulty information, and it turned out to be not so good. we all do it all the time. the main thing now is to get his little fluffy butt HOME where it belongs. good luck!

Don't give her the option, he's your bird just take him back! I would not take any crap about this, if he is in a bad situation he needs to be out of there.
LuvMyHarley1
From what I understand you have said, you didn't give Elvis to them to start with, did you?......if not, you don't have to get any one's permission to get him back....and if it were me, I'd be there in a skinny minute; that baby living in a small cage; just isn't fair to him....

Please Do Go Get Elvis........ huh.gif
Sandi Kiwis Mom
Cindy, don't beat yourself up about this......just go get Elvis....and KEEP him safe from harm. I tell ya, some relatives are to be banned biggrin.gif
cdennis77521
I am hoping I hear from her son tonight,he usualy calls me around 8pm so with any luck I should hear from him tonight.
Like I said I can't get there till Saturday, with my youngest being in school, and she lives llike 300 miles from me so Saturday is my only option!!!! Thanks everybody for all the support and PLEASE keep your fingers crossed and do a lot of praying...
i emailed her last night asking her to bring him to me in Brady, thats where my mom's lives and to bring him there so I can get him, I haven't heard from her as of yet but it is still early.
Majj
Oh !! I hope you get him home soon poor little guy probably misses the whole flock...
DMMoulton
I am in agreement with others. You couldn't have known that it would turn out as badly as it apparently has, but knowing now how it has turned out, Elvis should be rescued and returned to your home as soon as possible. Hang in there, and keep us posted!
SantanasMom
I agree with everyone. It doesn't sound like you "gave" him away, so you should be able to get him back. Good luck and Santana and I will be thinking of you this weekend!
Andie's Mom
I wouldn't give her an option. Just go get him...Just say that you've heard that he's not being cared for as to your agreement, therefore he's coming home with you...End of story...Just pick up the cage and take him and go. If she or any other relatives get mad...Oh well...She didn't live up to her side of the bargain.

Congratulations. As much as you want to be upset, you may want to give her permission to not own animals. It may keep her from finding another pet and putting it through this.
msdani1981
I'm so happy you're bringing Elvis home soon! And I agree with Tinks, I wouldn't help her find another Quaker...or any other animal, I think.....smile.gif

So glad "Elvis Will Be In The House"!! smile.gif Now we have to hear some one else watching the clock tic laugh.gif

We all suggest treating bad behavior with minimal incident, and reward good behavior.

Maybe she just needs to do a little studying first, and make sure she has the necessary things, and knowledge before acquiring an animal.

The actual cage size was not mentioned, maybe it's adequate, but not something we would use. The only real abuse mentioned was the boyfriend/hubby. She might be a great parront with proper training , but what about him.

Come'on home Elvis!!!!! biggrin.gif
herbiesmom
Thank goodness she decided to bring him to Brady. But please don't beat yourself up about it, making a poor decision has happened to all of us at one time or another. I'm so glad you will be getting your fid back!
cdennis77521
Well the heck of it was, she told me that she would bring him back to me, and I was like what wait a minute... NUMBER 1 HE IS MY FID NOT YOURS..... and she told me well you wanted me to take him and he is a demon bird.. I wanted a tame bird. I told her well if you want a tame bird go find one, because unless you work with one all the time and spend the time with them that they need then you will have a tame bird.
We got into it over the phone, and I told her just take the Elvis to my mom's and don't call me again asking for a flea much less anything else...
Thanks for the support on this...

LOL @demon bird she better hope he didn't hear that I am so glad he is coming home yeaaaaaaaaaaa

OK, I bow to all your comments. I was trying to see the better side. rolleyes.gif I was wrong! ohmy.gif She not only should be banned from having animals. She needs to be "Spayed" immediately!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did I say that out loud? OOOOOPPPPPSSSS!!!!!!!!! huh.gif

Some one said, some relatives should be banned. Did you mean: from having animals?, kids?, being around animals?, kids?, OTHER RELATIVES?

Enough of that! Get Elvis back where he needs to be! Concentrate on the anti-biting! Every ones gonna be so much happier. Especially "ELVIS"

He needs lots-o-treats/scritches after this. tongue.gif
cdennis77521
yeah he will, it was funny last night her son called me off his cell phone and I heard Elvis over the phone, and her son out his phone up to Elvis's "hut" and I started talking to him, I told him to just hang in there and that he will be home soon and I loved him and how sorry I was for letting this happen, her son went to laughing and I asked him what was wrong, he said "Cindy this FID of yours as you call him went too bobbin his head up and down, and looked directly at me and went to laughing" well he put the phone up to him again and I was talking to him again and I told him I love you elvis, momma loves you and it made my night Elvis's said nite nite.. Love you momma... I started crying my husband thought I had done lost what little bit of brain i had left LOL
I just wanted to share that will everyone..

I'm so glad that he's coming home!!

It's not easy to be a parrot owner, on some level we can all agree to that. The noise, mess, and HUGE commitment is not for everyone. Perhaps she is just more of a cat or dog person and that's perfectly OK.
herbiesmom
She really doesn't sound like an animal person. She should have been doing her research before Elvis came to visit her, and to realize the responsibility it takes to own any pet. (Oops, did I just call my fids pets?) Maybe she'd be better off with a pet rock. smile.gif
cdennis77521
yeah well, she had a QP about two years ago, and Polly was about 5-7 years old from what i could gather and they forgot to lock her cage one day and they left and came home a couple of hours later and found her dead in the botttom of her cage, no one knew what happened to her or anything,,
Well I have figured this much out, she is one of these kinds of ppl that knows everything about everything and knows nothing at all either...
I am stil so shaken by last night, and I can't wait.. till he gets home.....
Eddie and Gail
We will pray that all goes well and that Elvis will soon be back where he belongs.
And for you to be able to sleep at night until he gets safely back home!
We are sure that will be hard to do!!
God bless you.
LuvMyHarley1
Oh Boy! ! ! Yipppee! !--can't wait until Mr. Elvis comes home---please keep us informed..

God bless him---he wants to come home...almost made me tear up also.... huh.gif
moonchild1970
So glad that you are getting him back. PLEASE let us know the minute you get him back, and give him some quaker sized kisses for Verde and I!
Cacophony
This might end up being the bestest rescue "game" ever for Elvis! It sounds like he's going to be coming home after having had the shock of experiencing what a "normal" parrot home is like and maybe this will show him how good he's got it! Thank goodness that he's safe and as traumatic as this whole thing has been it's temporary.... *extra snuggles to Elvis for being a trooper*

gosh waiting anxiously for cindy to arrive to let us know

Well we finally made it home after what seemed to be the longest weekend ever in the history of weekends..We got there around 8 Friday night I didn't get to get Elvis till Saturday mornin. I got up early Saturday morning getting really excited and I headed to my aunts house. I pulled up there and my mom said she told Elvis guess who is here Elvis? She said she could have sworn he said who? MOMMA? I think she was trying to make me feel better...Well I walked into my aunts house after getting the hugs over from the family includeing all the dogs that they have, Elvis just up and SCREADMED MOMMMMMAAAAA I was shocked... I walked over to the little hut that he was in and I didn't know whether to take him out or not so I thought WTH whats he gonna do bite me...so I raised the door and I told him if you want out come on.. to my surprise he did not bite me and he didn't run from me he came right on out of the cage.. HE climbed out and came right up to my chest and sit down and went to giving me kisses and more kisses my cousin was there and she just stared at me like DANGIT.. she told me that "He would never do that to me" so i thought wth I would try something.. I walked towards the closer I got to her the worse he screeched and the more he climbed up my shoulder..
she asked me why I done that and I told her I wanted to see what he would do, and i flat out told her ELVIS DON"T LIKE YOU.. the as if on cue elvis goes" I DON"T LIKE YOU " YOUR STUPID...
I dang near fell on the floor laughing. I asked her how many times she called him stupid she said that she never did.. I said well he had to learn that from someone...
Well any ways.. we made it home Sunday around 2:30 I put him in his HUGE cage and he is loving it!! He will come to me now and give me kisses all teh kisses I can handle and he will snuggle up under my chin like crazy...
Thanks for all the support ...

KevKaos
Thank God this story had a happy ending. I'm very happy for you, and more so for Elvis. maybe some good will come out of it, and his biting has abated for good. What a hard lesson for a little guy to have to learn.
cdennis77521
This poor baby is so happy to be home and in a bigger cage, before i couldn't let him out with out him flying off and going all over the house, and today I let him to play on top of his cage and he just stayed there I'd walk by and he wouldd fly to me and then i walked back by he would fly to his cage, and kisses omg I am getting so many kisses its unreal... he even let my youngest son hold him this afternoon and Elvis will give him kisses with out biting... Wow - so happy it all turned out so well! He must be so happy to be back where he knows he is loved.
cdennis77521
I can tell yall he has became the most lovable little guy, he is letting everybody hold him and love on him, and before he left he wouldn't let me even stick my hand in the cage with out taking some fingers back with him.LOL
But he is doing great and real happy to be back home.
herbiesmom
awww....I am so glad Elvis is home and being such a good boy for his Momma!!! Yay!!

i have relatives like this as well. One of mine has killed many a animal including starving their goats to death, and leaving a bunny in a bath to drawn. I learned a long time ago that sometimes you just have to put your foot down with yuor inlaws/relatives, whatever.

I'm glad you're getting him back, it sounds like he will have a forever home, and thats great.
